can't use ffmpeg/libav decoders

Hi, I just found out that Gold Wave can optionally use ffmpeg/libav decoders. I'd like to set this up but am having trouble doing so. I downloaded a copy of ffmpeg a while ago, can't remember where but it included a bunch of files such as avcodec-58.dll, avdevice-58.dll, avfilter-7.dll and others. I...

can Gold Wave on IOS expose microphone settings for recording?

Hi, I'm very familiar with Gold Wave on Windows, but I have only used the Gold Wave IOS app a little bit. It does look nice, though, so I hope to use it in the future! But I have a few suggestions for recording: First, I've noticed that when using an IPhone, Gold Wave switches the speaker to the ear...

another expression evaluator question

Hi everyone, So the other day I was playing with expression evaluator and reading the Gold Wave manual on this tool, and discovered that the expression wave(n*2) pitches the open file up an octave. But wave(n*0.5) or wave(n/2) just produces a click and doesn't pitch it down like I expected. But if I...

is it possible to generate pulse waves?

Hi all, The expression evaluator in Gold Wave is a tool that goes way over my head. I was curious if it was possible to create a pulse wave with it (if you're unfamiliar a pulse wave is like a square but asymmetrical). I'd also like to somehow control the pulse width (or the proportion of high part ...

Re: preventing fade-ins with Wasapi, especially in Gold Wave

I recently did a similar search as you suggested and couldn't find anything. What confuses me is that this doesn't just happen with Realtech cards. It happens with plug-and-play devices, and also with a friend's computer which doesn't have Realtech. I even updated my laptop yesterday from 1607 to 17...

Re: auto cue

i ran a reduction of silence This may be your problem. Auto cue needs silences to figure out where to place cue points. I recommend keeping the silence while using auto cue. If you need to remove silence between samples, you might want to split the files and trim them individually, perhaps with aut...

preventing fade-ins with Wasapi, especially in Gold Wave

Hi all, Two weeks ago, I finally updated my computer from Windows 10 version 1607 to 1709. Things have mostly been fine, except for one thing. With several applications, when I start playing audio, there is a very small fade-in. One of the applications affected by this is Gold Wave. These fade-ins p...

Re: Keyboard Sounds

Slightly off topic, but this reminds me of a problem I'm having. I'm on Win10 BTW. IF I'm recording, say, streaming audio, normally I will turn my system sounds down in the volume mixer, because I'm sometimes a bit stupid and don't realize that you can change the sound scheme, so thanks for remindin...

supporting loop points?

Hi all, I have a question about Gold Wave in regards to editing samples for midi instruments (soundfont format, sfz, etc.) For those unfamiliar with this, you can basically load an instrument in this format into a compatible player and it will respond to midi. Play a note and the instrument will pla...

steep but good-sounding highpass filters?

Hi all, I have a question about the spectrum filter in Gold Wave. I like the spectrum filter a lot. Because I am blind, I find it difficult to negotiate the graphs, though I can with some patience, and am able to set up my own curves. I've used it to lowpass, highpass and bandpass and notch out soun...

Re: Keyboard Sounds

Firstly, what audio device is Gold Wave recording from? And I'm not sure exactly what sounds you're talking about; Gold Wave only records the sounds it receives, it doesn't add any extras. I'd be interested to hear the sounds you're talking about since then perhaps I could get a better idea of where...

Re: remove room acoustic echo from a recorded live theatre e

Sorry for bumping this thread, but I just came back to it and saw that it had gotten more replies. DewDude420, I'm really curious about deconvolution. If I understand right, you somehow estimate the reverb, get an impulse with that, and try to remove that reverb from the signal by doing an inverted ...

Re: remove room acoustic echo from a recorded live theatre e

Yep, as others have said, once it's far away, it'll always be far away. Though there are a few things you can try. First, there are now vst plug-ins which can try to suppress or boost the reverb, and which do so using intelligent algorithms designed for this purpose. Gold Wave can support VST Plug-i...

Re: Trouble getting the VST plug-in to recognize Certain VST

Really? that's odd, since they work in everything else I use VST plugs with. I doubt they'll be updated any time soon, since last I remembered, they haven't been updated in years. And I really liked them too... not to mention that as far as I know, Gold Wave's VST support is still beta, or at least ...

Re: Trouble getting the VST plug-in to recognize Certain VST

Hi Jack, While the rapper would suffice, it doesn't really fix the root of the problem. Gold Wave actually doesn't require rappers anymore because it comes with VST support right out of the box now. Using a rapper would bypass this, so would be counterproductive. Any more ideas? I think while I'm wa...
