Re: Use HTML to isolate part of an audio file

You can do exactly that at Soundcloud.com. Click "share" under your audio file, & pause the file at the point you want it to start. Check the "at" box & you'll see that the link has been adjusted. You can then embed the Soundcloud player in a web page.

Re: can't record

Hi Phillip!

Go to Control Properties, then Device. Note the Quality setting; it should be set to "48000/2/32 shared" for recording & playback. Please check in & let us know if this helps.

Re: GW 5.57 crashes on exit (Win 7 64-bit)

Hiya, folks...long time no see!

Just want to chime in & let people know that Chris' solution for the exit crash also works in Vista. Nice graceful exit once I renamed (then deleted) the QT .pig file.

Re: Apple //e nostalgia: sampled audio

Never had an Apple, but your post reminded me of the old days, the days of the C-64 & its SID chip. I had a Covox Voice Master, which recorded digital sound & played it back by toggling the SID's volume control on & off thousands of times a second. Flintstones, meet the Flintstones.... ;>

Re: Loops

Firstly, do a search of the Goldwave forums; there are many posts on the subject.

Secondly, read DewDude420's excellent Looping Tutorial.

If you still need help after that, we'll be here.

Re: Recording sound card output

First thing you should do:

Open the Windows volume control (little speaker in the system tray), choose Options/Properties, select Recording, & see which sources are checked; any box not checked won't show up as an available recording source.

Hope this helps.

Re: A retrospective of Goldwave (aka useless nostalga)

Re: Help: Audio quality degrates when importing .AVI file

Yes, GSpot will tell you what you need to know re: which audio & video codecs are used in your avi file. One thing I forgot to ask: in Goldwave, is there an indication of the audio format in the status bar (bottom of the GW editing window)? My hunch is that perhaps GW is playing the audio back using...

Re: Help: Audio quality degrates when importing .AVI file

What format is the avi audio? Are you using a codec pack or ffdshow or another 3rd-party decoder?

If your effect pedal has a stereo out (for headphones, perhaps), try connecting that to the line-in on the computer. Recording anything but a cheap-o mic via the mic jack is NEVER a good idea, pal. Line-in is the way to go with "consumer" sound cards or the dreaded mobo sound chips. If the pedal has...

Hi Owen! If your machine has another FLAC codec active (for instance, the Gabest DS splitter and/or the ffdshow package), it could cause the error you mentioned. If you use ffdshow, go into Audio Decoder Config & disable its handling of FLAC files. If not, try Softella's DirectShow Filter Manager to...

Slightly off topic: Regarding Chris' mention of divx-compatible dvd players, it's worth noting that, in my experience anyway, they work amazingly well. I have 2 Toshiba divx-ready dvd players; one is an all-in-one tv/vcr/dvd device, the other is the ubiquitous SD-V295 dvd/vcr. Both handle divx/xvid ...
