Re: Hot to change interface back?

The main toolbar is a lesser problem than the controls toolbar (and I normally switch off the effects toolbar and use the menus instead). I'm well-enough used to the MS Office ribbon interface that a certain amount of on-screen real-estate in exchange for a more accessible UI is an acceptable tradeo...

Re: Hot to change interface back?

To be honest I haven't upgraded to 6 yet for this reason. I do a lot of of work on a 1366x768 laptop screen and it's ... difficult.

Even a "half size" option in a future release would go a long way.

Re: [Search] GoldWave 6.0

I'm happy to wait if it means a better product at the end. GoldWave has been an awesome tool and represents some of the best value for money you can get, so I'd implore you to not rush Chris; wanting it now isn't going to make it come any faster. These things take time, and Chris - who after all has...

Re: Why is there no Multi-Core support?

Firstly, as has been said, it's down to the codecs being used, and whether or not they have multicore support. Secondly, GW actually does have multicore support in the program itself. Don't believe me? Run an intensive noise reduction/spectrum filter/EQ or whatever and watch all cores peak at 100%. ...

This is an old problem; search the forums for Vista to get plenty of hits for the solution, including this one: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3234&p=13771&hilit=vista#p13771

Re: Can't get a playback

Have you tried following the advice here: http://www.goldwave.ca/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3234&p=13771&hilit=vista#p13771 Tip: searching the forums is a good thing to do, as there is a chance that someone may have had the same problem as you are having before. Suggestion for Chris: the...

Re: Can't get a playback

OK, back right up. What things did you switch around? Did you take note of the way that they were before? This is very important if you're in trouble and messing around in the hope that you'll get things working. Right. You need to give more information and be precise with it. First of all, what ver...

You can also do "save selection as" if you have the audio you've recorded selected.

Re: Question about trial version download.

This is when you're trying to install GoldWave, correct? And from the sounds of it you're on Vista or possibly Windows 7, or else have updated your version of Internet Explorer on XP? OK, if you've downloaded GoldWave from one of the links on this site, you're fine. You can just select the option to...

Re: Best Audio Recording Settings???

Sound quality of a recording is first and foremost entirely dependent on the quality of the source . If the source is low quality any recording made from it is also going to be low quality. You can try some editing trickery to clean it up, but it's still subject to basic rules of garbage-in garbage-...

Re: Recording/extracting embedded audio from .exe's?

Best way to do this is using a Resource Editor. These let you open a .exe and view/edit/replace/extract bitmaps, icons, strings, and any other content type that may be embedded in it. There are many free ones available, so try this one for starters and see how you get on.

Re: technical questions for experienced audio/PC Users

For streaming audio your network is going to be the bottleneck, not your hard drive. Typical 100 mbps fast ethernet will max out at about 10 mbytes per second, allowing for protocol overhead/etc, so any hard disk setup faster than that is going to be money wasted (for reference, a typical 7200 RPM c...

Re: Noise reduction to my cassette tapes

Beware of overdoing noise reduction on a cassette source. In many cases the volume of the noise can equal or exceed the volume of the subtle high-frequency info in the track, meaning that post-NR you'll end up with a fairly dull and lifeless result. If you're prepared to live with some high frequenc...
