Error: "Install missing presets?" [GoldWave 6.30]

This old error (GoldWave 5.14) just reappeared after updating from 6.27 to 6.30 :-( When I start GoldWave, I often get the error message: "GoldWave settings and presets could not be found for the current user. Install them now?". What is this? Fortunately, I saved all my settings from 5.13...

Re: does the 64bits version really in coming ?

I found a 64 bit version on www.x64bitdownload.com. Is this an official version?

Re: GoldWave does not run at all with Windows Vista 64bit

I got it running! :)

When I select Disable effect plug-ins in GoldWave Setup, the program works.

GoldWave does not run at all with Windows Vista 64bit

I've got a new computer with (german) Vista. All actual patches and updates are installed. Now I installed GoldWave 5.25. But I cannot run it. It crashes immediately, and I get a popup window saying: GoldWave Digital Audio Editor funktioniert nicht mehr (GoldWave Digital Audio Editor doesn't work an...

As I wrote: It happens exactly , when any other program, including the OS itself, is going to play a sound (unintentionally tested with Speaking Clock DeLuxe, SeaMonkey, Total Commander and maybe others I just don't remember), and on certain actions inside GoldWave (creating a new file or starting a...

Recording: Volume level settings don't work correctly

Hi there, I have some weird problems when I try to do a lengthy recording with GoldWave. In the Control Properties on the Volume tab, I selected Line-In as input device and set the level to 20%. These values are saved correctly, so normally, I should never need to open this dialog again when I want ...

Install the latest version (get v5.16 instead of v5.14), restore your settings through "GoldWave Setup", close GoldWave, delete the GWPreset.reg file located in the GoldWave folder, then run GoldWave and answer "yes" when you see the "not found" message. Yes, that does...

My point was that since I had let it install in a nested folder, it didn't pick up my previous saved settings. Look for a file called "GoldWaveSettings.gws" & make sure it's in the proper directory, & not set as read-only. Good luck. Thank you for your answer, but I still have a p...

I had something similar happen when I installed 5.16. Turns out I'd mistakenly allowed the program to install itself in /Program Files/Goldwave/Goldwave, rather than /Program Files/Goldwave. It was easily corrected, & everything works as it's supposed to. Sorry, but I don't get the point. I ins...

Using such a large amount of virtual memory with only 1 GB of RAM is not efficient. It affects the hard drive cache too. GoldWave wouldn't be able to use more than 2 GB anyway due to the 32 bit OS/processor address space limits. I was not aware of this. 32 bit addresses should result in 4 GB, and t...

Definitely not.

Please inform yourself about the terms "priority" and "semantics".

Using that much virtual memory is a bad idea. With only 1 GB of RAM installed, you'll have 7 GB of virtual memory on the hard drive. Considering how inefficient virtual memory is, you'd be better off using hard drive storage in GoldWave instead. So that more than explains the slowdown you've mentio...

Sorry for the late response, but I got no notification about the answers. The notification settings of my profile are correct, and the option at the bottom of my messages is also always checked.

But now I'm here again :-)

Re: GoldWave: 5.14 worse than 5.13

Actually no changes have been made to the Pop/Click filter in v5.14, so I suspect the slowdown is caused by something else, such as using hard drive storage instead of RAM, a heavily fragmented hard drive, too many other programs running, excessive scanning by antivirus software, etc. This is stran...
