Thanks guys. But I am only just a little clearer.
What would be nice is to be able to see the frequencies and the amplitude of each frequency across the entire spectrum being used to represent a piece of music in real time. Is this what it does?

Normalizing with GoldWave
I notice that the tracks I normalize in Goldwave sound lower in volume than other tracks on MySpace for instance. Does anyone have any idea why this is so?
