Re: Equalize/match volume of different bits in one channel?
Found a solution: The waveform looks fine to me... You can use the Compressor/Expander effect with the Reduce Peaks preset. Dynamic Compression makes the loud parts quieter and/or the quiet parts louder. Limiting is a kind of fast compression that "pushes down" the peaks. Compression and l...

Equalize/match volume of different bits in one channel?
I've got a recording of two people talking. All in one channel. One speaker is much louder.
Is there a way to normalize all the sections to roughly the same loudness (volume)?

How to BATCH Volume Fadeout at 50% of the length of sample?
I have a bunch of samples I want to fade out to 0% (silence) at the halfway point of the audio.
So, essentially , I'd like to VOLUME SHAPE it but based on the percentage of the length of the audio, rather than the length in time because each sample is a different length.

Re: Create a BandPass filter based on sound sample?
Ok, I used Audacity, which has a nice spectrum analyizer.
The figured out the bell's main formant and created a Bandpass filter based on that.
Worked perfectly.

Re: Create a BandPass filter based on sound sample?
OK,
So I basically have to identify the formants (the strongest frequencies) myself.
Once I know what those are, could I "build" a multi-frequency bandpass filter in Goldwave?

Create a BandPass filter based on sound sample?
I want to filter out all sound except for a unique sound ( a bell). So I'm thinking I need to get a frequency spectrum "finger print" of the sample then create a BandPass filter based on that envelope. Obviously, the filter is frequency only but I think that if I can find the dominant (lou...

Is there a way to get Avg Volume for each of batch o files?
I have a batch of files that we programatically matched the volume of. I want to make sure they are properly volume-matched. I see that GW can show the avg Volume (with Volume Match). I'd like to get a list of files and their avg volume so I can see whether they are all pretty close. (I realize that...

I assume you mean Current Maximum, right?
Good tip.

Auto Cue Points are not working as expected
I commonly have a recording of a few hundred spoken words that I need to split into individual recordings and rename. I use the Auto Cue and split feature. But it's not working as expected. It's putting a Cue point in the middle of a segment of sound where there is less than .5 sec of silence. An th...

Re: Possible to batch process noise reduction using the clip
Yes this works. But I did find that I needed to copy the background noise to the clipboard in the same instance of Goldwave . (The first time I tried it I had already set up my batch process and then realized "oh, I need the noise to be on the clipboard" and opened another instance of GW a...

Re: Bizarre: Stereo Saved-As Mono reduces volume by about 40
Yep, that fixed it.
So is the idea that someone took a mono recording, and created a second channel (making it pseudo stereo) by copying that and flipping it (shifting it in phase 180 degrees)?
And then when they get recombined (on a mono system) they [nearly] cancel each other out?

I have an INSANE problem. Hoping someone can clue me in on what's causing it and maybe an easier way to fix it than I've found so far. I have two similar sound files, I'll call: Normal.mp3 https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3z-jdRGPwFiR0ZKVFRjMVhIQmM/edit?usp=sharing Quiet.mp3 https://drive.google.co...

I've got 850 audio files and I want to make sure none of them are overdriven (volume too high causing clipping).
Is there any way to do that?
