Re: Cursor won't move when Play activated
Thanks for encouraging me in that direction, Gord. The problem has been solved using these main steps: 1) Thoroughly removed Goldwave from the system, then installed the latest stable release, compatible with MS Windows 7. 2) Changes made through Windows 7 Control Panel - Hardware & Sounds - Sou...

Cursor won't move when Play activated
Hi When I press the green Play icon, the line in the view window seems to move slightly, then the sound file doesn't play. The cursor doesn't move in the view window. Everything seems frozen. I installed a new version of GW yesterday, then encountered this problem for the first time. So I uninstalle...

Re: No "Volume Device"
I did have SP2 installed already, and I got a friend to download the update for me, but thank you for mentioning that. A new Sound Card arrived today, I'm hoping to install it this weekend, and if that fixes the Volume Device problem, then I've got my work-around. Not really a 'fix' though. Somehow,...

Re: No "Volume Device"
You're right, there's a yellow Question Mark next to the audio references. That brings up another problem, the modem keeps getting a "other computer won't answer! *snif* " message. This part's for your entertainment only: I had to download a Mac version of Internet Explorer, so that I can ...

Re: No "Volume Device"
Update.
Checked the BIOS, and settings pertaining to sound/audio are set to 'Auto' rather than 'Disabled'.

Re: No "Volume Device"
Yes, for sure, the problem is with the system, not Goldwave. But I've seen the same problem once before, pertaining to sound cards built onto motherboards, and because of how it affects Goldwave so specifically, I was sure that GW users would be familiar with it and have fixes or work-arounds to sha...

Re: No "Volume Device"
Update. The System Information wasn't referring to a sound card, only to an internal driver. (Modem sounds, internal sounds...) My 'sound card' is built onto the motherboard. I downloaded the latest drivers from the motherboard manufacturer, but that hasn't fixed the problem. Goldwave should have li...

No "Volume Device"
Hi I'm restoring a crashed system, which isn't giving me any audio in/out. Goldwave shows nothing for a Volume Device. I can't remember anymore... Should the Volume Device be supplied by sound card drivers? The computer system (XP Home) says that the sound card is working fine. On its last fix at a ...

Re: Is GW compatible with "SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD A
I finally managed to invest in an additional sound card. Had that 'repair tech' offered me the choice, I wouldn't have optioned for a motherboard with a 'sound card' built onto it. When I could correct that costly mistake, I got a plug-in sound card that allows for both internal and external recordi...

AMD Sempron is the mother board. They don't distribute the Drivers, they let another company do it. Identifying the name and location of the Driver(s) is its own excellent adventure. You're right about the second sound card, it's the smartest and easiest remedy. I just didn't want another out-of-poc...

Yes, I've been also using the Stereo Mix setting. I found information someplace that guided through a configuration setting in a file, changing the 00 No to 01 Yes, or something like that, in order to activate Stereo Mix. I've downloaded a couple other sound recorders to try them, and nothing has wo...

Re: Total recorder
Using an external cable to connect the headphone output to the line input would be the only other solution. Chris I might have the same problem. I've got a SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio card. I'd like to determine if my SoundMax card limits itself the same way, but I don't have the mini-plug...

Is GW compatible with "SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD A
I'm not recording any sound. When my XP was 'repaired' in 2007, a new sound card, SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio, was added. For a while it seemed that everything was working. Then I upgraded Goldwave to 5.16 from 5.12. Problems started after that. I re-installed 5.12, but the problems now rem...
