Ah-ha! That's it!
I was looking for it under "Options/Something".
A thousand thanks!

Always mark at zero crossing?
It seems like I have lost a feature. (I am currently on 6.60.) I seem to remember an option whereby if you checked it, all selections would be moved to the nearest zero crossing in the waveform. I seem to remember that I had to re-select it most times when I upgraded to a new version. Now, with 6.60...

help with compressor/expander
I have an interview that I would like to split between the two separate participants. The interview was done on Skype. Participant #1 is very soft. Participant #2 is very, very, very loud. I would like to split them into separate files so I can edit them manually, and then re-combine them to sound m...

Re: Kudos
I could not agree more! I have been using GoldWave for more than a decade. It does exactly what it claims to do, the interface is perfect, it never fails. I have used it in so many projects for everything from simple trimming of wave files of a couple of seconds to complicated edits of speeches and ...

Re: Beta 6.08 Playback marker follows the window when zoomed
That was it!
I never even knew that option existed. I guess it was turned on when I installed the new version.
I turned it off and everything works just the way I expect it to.
Thanks so much. I would have never known!

Beta 6.08 Playback marker follows the window when zoomed
In the beta 6.08 version, I often zoom on section with the mouse wheel to get a closer look -- even while the clip is playing. I'm sure that used to be possible. But now, if the playback marker runs off the right part of the screen during playback, the screen adjusts itself to "catch up" t...

Re: Issues with the beta
I'm sure that's not how it was on previous versions... The older version did not allow the playback marker to be dragged at all. Sometimes it is useful (more intuitive) to be able to move the playback marker during playback. You can use Options | Window and check the "Hide playback marker"...

Re: Issues with the beta
the handles for the different markers need to be in different places vertically, I find myself trying to adjust the selection and at least 50 percent of the time I am ending up grabbing the play marker. I agree. When playing a section, and when the play marker goes all the way to the end of the sec...

Re: Get the SH out
That might be difficult or impossible. :( Noise like that (white noise or pink noise, etc.) contains many-many frequency components so filtering them out will also filter the sound you are trying to keep. I fear the cure will be worse that the disease, but you can try the noise reduction filter. Co...

Get the SH out
I am editing some dialog for a client and I want to clean it up as much as possible. During recording, the client must have occasionally brushed against the microphone. Every once in a while, out of now where, there's this "SHHH" sound. I can clip it out if nothing else is going on, but so...

Re: Simulating a telephone conversation
Since there is video, you shouldn't need to go too far, and you probably don't need to do everything I'm suggesting. Try starting with a bandpass filter from 300Hz to 4kHz. This is approximately the frequency bandwidth of a regular 'ol telephone landline. Experiment with a wider/narrower range as d...

Simulating a telephone conversation
What is the best filter and settings to simulate a telephone conversation? I'm sure there's a way to do this... I'm just not sure exactly what settings to use. I'm working on a video that will show both sides of a telephone conversation. The audio has been recorded "live", showing each per...

Tape hiss and the clipboard
I am converting a pile of cassette tapes to MP3 files. The tapes have a fair amount of hiss on them, as well as some motor-boat fluttering noise. I have been able to reduce most of the noise by copying a portion of the leader tape to the clipboard and then applying noise reduction to the rest of the...

Volume and dB
Maybe I need a lesson on volume setting terminology. I haven't figured out dB, why it's sometimes negative, and how it relates to volume percertages. Here's my specific question... I have quite a few audio files that I need to prepare for submission to a radio station for braodcast. They are all rec...
