Re: can goldwave maximize the sound using by cue point ?

i can't find a way to select a cue zone. This is the process that I have used in the past to select between two cue points: - Place the Start Marker after the end cue point. - Hit [Shift+Ctrl+J] to "Jump to Previous Cue". That will move the Start Marker to the end cue point. - Hit [Shift+E] to open...

Re: How to record directly into Golwave a sound played on PC

On the "System" tab of the "Control Properties" dialog, select "Use Core Audio/WASAPI". Then, on the "Device" tab, see if you have a "LOOPBACK" device listed as one of the "Record" devices you can use.

Re: Changing the speed but not the pitch of an audio file

Hi Rob.

The effect you want is called "Time Warp" in v5.x and simply "Time" in v6.x. There are three modes: "Rate", "Similarity" and "FFT". The latter two will change the duration of the selection without affecting pitch. For voice and simple sounds, try using "Similarity"; for music try using "FFT".

Then have a look in "Public". "Documents and Settings\All Users" is the old (XP and earlier) location for those things.

Re: autobooks to mp3

Hi Ray.

We are not allowed to discuss that type of conversion on this forum. To do so could potentially make GoldWave Inc. the target of legal action. For more information see the answer here.

Re: Copy then Copy to New - Assign Key

Perhaps you could use a utility like AutoHotkey to map [Ctrl-C][Ctrl-P] to a single keystroke.

Re: Copy then Copy to New - Assign Key

Does [Ctrl-C] immediately followed by [Ctrl-P] accomplish what you want?

Re: Best quality to save to?

re: compression - You are quite right in thinking that you should save your raw recordings in a "lossless" format, but not all compression schemes are "lossy" (like MP3 is). FLAC is a lossless compression scheme that is often used for archive purposes, and GoldWave supports the FLAC file format.

Re: Noise Reduction

Yes, GoldWave can do that. From the Help file: Noise Reduction =============== ... A reduction envelope is used to remove noise. The envelope can be created in four different ways, depending on the Reduction envelope setting as explained below. The Use clipboard option often gives the best results. ...

Re: Flavors of Play

I don't think this really warrants a feature request because if "nothing is selected" then all you need to do it hit [Ctrl-A] ("Select All") to select the whole file. Therefore, using the "Selection" playback mode is a workable solution.

Re: Default Format New File

Try this: In GoldWave, click Options > File Formats... > Default Save Format choose a "mono" format, and enable the "Use this format for Save As, Save Selection As, and Copy To" option. The file will still be initially recorded in stereo, but when you go to save it the default format will be the "mo...
