Who knows? I didn't get any warning from Windows Defender, either before or after installation. 6.54 runs fine.
This wouldn't be the first time MB has misidentified malware. I can't figure how MB got its great reputation.

Re: GW crashes entire system v6.52/Win10/XeonCPU/NvidiaK4000
I think you'd be better off looking on Tom's Hardware for an answer. I've run Goldwave on Intel and AMD machines with dedicated and integrated graphics and never had a GW-related system crash. Right now, I'm running GW 6.54 on Win10 with a 10th-gen Intel Core i7 processor and integrated graphics. I ...

Re: SamfordReverb VST Plugin presets
This is a bit of a hijack, but I tried a couple of 64-bit VSTs with 6.54, and they worked. I didn't have any directory or crashing issues like I had with 6.53. One of the plugs is a paraEQ so, since I am constantly manipulating it, presets don't matter.

Re: Noise reduction issues
Well, I revisited this issue after refreshing my memory and after screwing up my first post. I used the same procedure you did. I don't know why there would be no noise profile in the NR module window unless one of the following conditions applied: 1) There was so little noise in the sample, the pro...

Re: SamfordReverb VST Plugin presets
Hm...the only thing I can suggest is that, if there is some GW cache file with VST plug-in info in it, either edit the file of its Samford content, or delete the file altogether and start over. Sorry, I know this sounds pretty lame. My only excuse that I don't use VST plug-ins with GW, so I've never...

Re: SamfordReverb VST Plugin presets
Is there an updated version of the plug-in? You might try downloading that and see if that solves your problem.

6.53 VST search causes program freeze, license invalidation.
Once again in demo mode, I have to re-enter my license info and reset all of the defaults. Yay 64-bit VST support. At least 32-bit VST didn't cause these problems. Is 32-bit VST not supported anymore in this latest GW v.? I'm just wondering wondering if this latest v. of GW could be choking on 32-bi...

Re: GoldWave bugs
I want to point out that my response was based on the OP's original post, which has since been edited by the OP. My feeling is that, once someone has responded to your post, the ethical thing to do is just live with it, and make any revisions/explanations in a subsequent post. That is all.

You didn't change your hardware setup as well, did you, when you upgraded GoldWave?

It does sound like a noise gate somewhere in the software chain.

Re: Is there way to fix "wobbly" sound of old radio?
Goldwave can't fix wow and flutter. You'd have to buy another, much more expensive, program to do the job. I think the latest version of Izotope RX has a feature that allows the user to fix wow and flutter. Incidentally, when in doubt, look in the manual. If it ain't in the manual, it ain't in Goldw...

Re: How to increase bass in a *.mp3?
Google for articles on equalization and mastering. Then start practicing on your own files. Sorry, there's, otherwise, no short, simple way to answer your questions.
Goldwave has all of the tools you need for the job. Apparently, you just need to learn how to use them.

Re: Noise reduction
You should consider looking at something like Izotope RX if you want more advanced NR capabilities. I doubt the GW developer has the financial incentive, given the price of the program, to do any upgrade on the NR module. There are features I would like added to GW that I know the developer will nev...
