Re: FreeDB is no more

I've found that getting accurate album info online is often a matter of chance. More often than not I just label tracks myself after I rip them.

Re: Registering a (really) old License

OMG. So you got what what you wanted after all, but you're still complaining, simply because you had to update your license on a <$50, 20yo purchase. You should try dealing with Izotope or Avid sometime if you want a real hassle.

Re: Franger Effect

You mean "flanger" effect? There's no simple answer to your question. If you're not willing to experiment, learning to use GoldWave is going to be a real uphill battle for you. Here's a tip: You might want to "layer" the effect, that is, process several copies of the track using a different flanger ...

Re: Feature Request: Hot Keys for switching Audio Input/Recording

What kind of recording interface are you using, if any? Are you just plugging things into your computer jacks? A hot key is really for doing something on the fly -- i.e. quick edits. I can't think of a reason why I'd change recording devices on the fly. That's pretty much a set-and-forget thing with...

Re: Noise gate issues

Release time is a common-enough concept. Why don't you just look it up? You're the one using the gate.

Re: German language with large toolbar icons

Do you absolutely need every single icon on the default toolbar? I deactivate the icons I never use (more than half). That leaves plenty of room on the toolbar for the icons I use frequently.

Re: Any LibriVox artists or 'listeners' here?

Yeah, Librivox comes up in discussions here all of the time. You can hardly get people to shut up about it. Seriously, the only way to get real information is to slog through what's available and make what inferences you can. Start Googling again. Re: Flac 24 bit to Stereo/Mono wave file

OK, I asked for details, and you haven't given me any. So I still can't tell what you're doing that might lead to conversion issues. For all I know, you could just be pushing buttons at random and praying for the right results. I convert files from 24-bit to 16-bit in GW all of the time, and I never...

Re: Flac 24 bit to Stereo/Mono wave file

Have you had this problem before, with earlier versions of GoldWave, or is the first time you've tried the conversion? I don't really get why anyone would convert a file from a compressed format to an uncompressed one. It seems to me that's inviting trouble all by itself. At any rate, it's hard to t...

Re: Win10_LTSB_3504-cannot determine format

Well, for one thing, if you're referring to Goldwave, you're not using the new version.

I'm using Goldwave 6.51 in Windows 10, and mp3 files open and play just fine. Have you tried just reinstalling 6.47?

Re: GoldWave Verification Signature ?!?

If you have a firewall activated, you might try shutting that off temporarily. I admit I'm really reaching here. I've never gotten that error message, and I think I started using GoldWave in 2003 on Windows XP. You might want to keyword 'verification signature error Windows 7' on Google and see what...

Re: GoldWave Verification Signature ?!?

Maybe you were just lucky the first time. Try installing an earlier version of GoldWave and see if that works.

The later the version of any piece of software, the greater the chance you will encounter compatibility issues with Windows 7, since everything will have been tested on Windows 10.

Re: Ribbon line flickers

My father started having graphics issues with his 10yo Mac Mini a few weeks before it died. At first, Dad thought it was a problem with his web browser. Nope. But he's got a 20yo Mac desktop that still works fine.

There are not a lot of places for heat to go in those compact computers. Just sayin'.

Re: issue without internet 6.51, very slow startup

My PC is always connected to the internet, so I don't know how things would operate with the internet blocked. You might want to check your resource monitor during GW startup to see what's eating up all of the resources. It's hard to imagine deactivating something causing other processes to slow dow...
