Re: Difference between marker and Play Cursor positions?
I sometimes get artifacts after doing noise-reduction, and not just in GoldWave. Things that should register as clicks or pops are silent when I actually play the file. I have no idea why that happens. More often than not, the problem goes away completely after I save the file, but, again, I don't k...

Re: Password checking
You'll have to talk to the developer about getting a new password if you've lost the original one.
I keep my GW user ID and license number taped to a tag on my desk so I don't lose them. I also keep a separate GW file in a password directory on my external hard drive as a backup.

There certainly is. There is more than one way, in fact.loninappleton wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 9:05 pmAnyway can Goldwave tools remove or greatly suppress what sounds like a 60 Hz electrical signal tone from an audio file?

Re: Need Some Very Patient Assistance
I wish Goldwave would drop that 'duration' setting. In Reaper, all you do is arm a track to check the levels, then press 'record.' You aren't required to set a 'duration' first. The 'duration' setting probably dates from when computers had 16MB of RAM, and you had to set a track duration to make sur...

I never tried ripping to FLAC on Goldwave, so I couldn't help locate the problem.

Re: Need Some Very Patient Assistance
I had to do some product research on USB tape decks. Heck, they look like updated versions of Sony Walkmans. I didn't know these things existed.
The last tape deck I owned was a huge, all-analog, Technics dubbing deck. That was something like 30 years ago.

Re: Need Some Very Patient Assistance
The quickest way to get started: 1.) Download and install the Goldwave demo. 2.) Open the program. 3.) Go to: Control Properties > Device. Set the parameters. 4.) Close the Control Properties panel. Return to the main display. 5.) Press the 'Record' button. Set the duration. 6.) Press 'Play' on your...

Re: Need Some Very Patient Assistance
Hi Bill:
I'll fiddle around a little bit with Goldwave and get back to you. That may take a day or so. Right now, I use a product called 'Reaper' for recording, so I'll have to refresh my memory regarding Goldwave.

Re: Need Some Very Patient Assistance
I just thought of something: your grandkids might want your recorded files in compressed format. Goldwave does batch-processing, which means you can load your recordings into a folder, select 'convert to .mp3' or some such from within the Goldwave batch-processing menu, and convert all of the record...

Re: Need Some Very Patient Assistance
I think you should start with some extremely simple arrangement and work up, regardless, just until you get your recording feet wet. Minimize your investment until you've mastered the basics. If you want to start with Goldwave, fine. That'll work. But I recommend starting with Audacity and working u...

Re: Need Some Very Patient Assistance
Thanks very much, **Tristan** for your time and expertise. I had thought that just a usb cable from the tape unit into my USB 3.0's would be enough. Will I need the interface so that I can more easily control volumes and such? If your tape deck has an integrated USB jack then, technically speaking,...

Re: Need Some Very Patient Assistance
A basic recording rig would include: 1) A software program like Goldwave. You could also use Audacity, which is free. 2) An interface that would allow you to connect your tape deck to your computer via USB. Also, a set of RCA audio cables. Behringer makes really cheap interfaces that don't require e...

And this is why I tell people to just read the manual. People post questions then vanish without a trace.

Re: Opening tracks in external program?
There's no way to set up slave programs with Goldwave as you can with Reaper. I know, because i tried at least once. No dice.
As for merging tracks, that's easy enough to do if you just select them from a directory. I do it all the time. Just look in the manual for instructions.
