Recording Source: Stereo Mix

I am running Windows 7 via Bootcamp on a MacBook Pro. Several months back, I could swear that in Goldwave, I had the option of setting my recording as Stereo Mix (which is what I used to record online podcasts). But I don't see that option anymore. Does anyone here have any clues as to why, or how I...

Re: Goldwave and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Compatibility

Chris, what is the DirectSound option?

Is that DirectSound option available in GoldWave 4.26 (old, yeah I know, but I prefer this version).

Re: Goldwave and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Compatibility

Thanks for the replies guys.

Updating the driver worked. Why the driver on the CD-RAM didn't work is odd to me. But now it's all good. Thanks guys!!

Goldwave and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Compatibility

Hi. Can anyone help me get Goldwave to properly recognize the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2? I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. I just bought the Focusrite and installed the device drivers. I have my mic going into the Focusrite via XLR. My Focusrite goes into my PC via USB. In Goldwave, under Properties > Devi...

Recording with Behringer Xenyx 1622USB mixer

I'm recording into GW v4.26 with a Behringer Xenyx 1622USB audio mixer (link deleted) I'm using Windows 7. The mixer offers an optional ASIO driver. That is, GW can record both with and without the ASIO. The problem is that I've noticed a few pros AND cons with/without the driver. What would you guy...

DRM Protected Files -- Help loading in GW

I own a CD with protected content. I've never seen a CD like this before. No CD ripper was able to extract the audio from it. When I load it, it opens up an interactive menu, by which I have the option to copy all songs to my computer. I did that. They copied in WMA format. When I look at the proper...

Expression Evaluator

I don't know much about the Expression Evaluator, but by playing around with it, I think I got the concept. Entering certain equations into it will create certain sounds. What I want to know, however, is can this tool evaluate my sound files and give me the mathmatical equation that would reproduce ...

The best tip for aligning them is zooming in on your sound waves. Compare the sound waves of the two files until you see a similarity.

Thanks for the input.

How about editing audio for TV shows? Isn't that a job class of it's own, or does the video editor do that too?

The Right Audio School

This isn't exactly an inquiry about Goldwave, but I think I could get good help here. I'm interested in studying audio production. Job types that are of interest would be (1) editing the audio on films or tv series, and/or (2) mastering audio on songs (this one requires more schooling I assume). Bas...

Compression/Expansion Tips (Battling Distortion)

I usually use Goldwave 4.26, so I will be referring to that version's terms. In audio class, I was told that radio stations use compression/expansion to even out the levels between various songs, especially when playing songs from different eras. In other words, all songs played will seem to have th...

I'm pretty sure the problem is caused by Windows XP. I also run on XP. Goldwave, along with many other programs, crash all the time. It's extremely annoying. My brother had the same problem. When he looked it up, he saw that others had the same problem as well. One guy posted that once he changed to...

You could try the following: 1. Take your original song file and select the "Equalizer" option. On it, you will see 7 frequency bands (60Hz, 150Hz, 400Hz, 1000Hz, 2400Hz, 6000Hz, 15kHz). Increase the utmost left band all the way up and all the others all the way down, and process the setti...

There is a very simple process to know if your WAV file used to be an MP3 file. If you have an official retail CD, do the following: 1. Extract a song in WAV format; 2. Extract the same song in MP3 format at 64kbps As you know, low quality MP3s, which are pretty much any MP3s encoded lower than 192k...
