Re: Sources for codecs?

On Windows 10, Goldwave 6 supports AAC/m4a "out of the box" by virtue of Media Foundation in Windows. There is no codec to install. For LAME...I seem to recall when I reinstalled Windows on this machine late last year; Goldwave 6 actually downloaded lame_enc.dll for me and copied it to the proper di...

Re: Dragonfly red USB DAC

The Dragonfly Red is a DAC only, it does not contain an ADC. If you are using a separate device to digitize vinyl, as Doug mentioned; you need to configure Windows to "Listen to this device" on your Dragonfly output. In the old days, our sound cards usually contained both a DAC and ADC, along with a...

Re: Recording vinyl/cassettes and monitoring clipping

When recording vinyl you never want to try to use full scale as things like pops and clicks can cause clipping. Now...one could argue that since there isn't any valuable information in a click that it's no problem if it clips...but you still should avoid clipping at all costs. So I typically shoot f...

Re: Batch Procxessing

About the closest you can maybe get is paste your clipboard segment to a new file, load the NR effect; click use shape; and scroll through the spectrum to find the "loudest" segment and then create a shape envelope to save as a preset. There's no current way I can find to create a reduction envelope...

Re: Music Elements Filter

About the best you could hope for would be something that could identify the song and then pull from a database, filling in the information you want. Software that could detect one type of genre from another without any outside information would require some pretty hefty AI that was "trained" on eve...

Download and install for nothing on several PCs ! A username like "HiSpeed" would imply that you probably have high-speed internet...in which case it shouldn't be anything for you to download the program multiple times and install it. It's not like installing ProTools or Audition CC or even izotope...

Re: How to enable Stereo Mixer in Windows 10 1803 OS 17134.1

Maybe I'm not getting the same updates for my Windows 10...becuase I've heard everyone in the audio and ham radio (as we do a lot of soundcard digital modes) that they're having this problem. I just got a update this morning and my privacy settings haven't changed. Maybe it's 10 Pro vs 10 Home diffe...

Re: play selected interval (!) in endless loop?

Right clicking on the middle play button (I think), will allow you to select playback options. Among them is loop. That playback button will then loop the selection.

Re: Recording from a cassette tape - will GW separate the tr

If you have a minimum amount of silence between tracks, the auto-cue feature will mark all of these for you as CUE points. You can then adjust them if needed, delete false triggers, and have Goldwave split the track based on cue points. You can also export the CUE file for use in other software.

Re: MP3 loaded in GoldWave longer than that opened in a play

This file is completely screwed up. For starters, it appears to have been split from a larger mp3 file based on the mp3split signature. MP3Split must have malformed everything. No...I take that back. This is two entirely different encodes from different encoders with different bitrates that were imp...

Re: How to merge many mp3 file to be one song

If the files are all the same bitrate and you're not worried about volume equalization...then using something like mp3 direct-cut to merge them directly is a better option. Much like MPEG video can be split up in to smaller sections...the same goes for MPEG Audio. You don't get sample precision edit...

Re: cutout an specific spoken phrase repeatition from WAV a

Because it sounds simple...but it's not. There have been things attempted in the past...the ability to do such a task is still not easy. Converting speech to text isn't 100% accurate. The other problem is the fact once it goes through compression...things change. You can't say "find me every match f...

Re: id3 track field is erased for WAV format

Look....this was explained.

There is no standard for tagging WAV. Either Goldwave doesn't support whatever dbpoweramp is writing in to the file....or dbpoweramp isn't writing tags at all.

What your other programs do don't matter.

Re: id3 track field is erased for WAV format

From dbpoweramp's documentation: Wave files can store limited (choice of fields) ID Tags in a Wave LIST chunk, or a full range id ID Tags in an 'id3 ' chunk (which is an id3v2 tag). By default both types of tags are written for maximum compatibility. Not all programs can read these chunks. Also...yo...
