If you want to monitor what comes from the Line Input, it must be also checked in the output control. Recording and output are controlled separately.

I suggest you to try, and adjust if needed:

highpass 300 Hz
clip the voice (with the dynamics effect)
resample at a lower sample rate (8000?)
resample back to the normal rate (44100 or 48000 Hz)
amplify treble to make the resampling noise more audible.

There is a size limit for the WAV format (the format itself, not only in Goldwave) of 4GB, and a file size limit of 4 GB on the hard drive formatted in FAT. This second one doesn't exist on NTFS partitions. A solution can be to reduce the sample rate, and also to record in mono if stereo isn't neede...
