Re: Installing Golcwave in Linux?
Have you done a forum search? You might have to look back a long way to find something you want. I've never seen Linux usage discussed on the GW forum.

When you get your answer on one of the other dozen forums you posted on, could you post back? Thanks.

Re: Noise when recording by phone
2 possible avenues of attack: 1) Move the phone as far away from other electrical gear as possible before you decide to record anything. 2) Try a 2-channel isolation-transformer box between your sound source and your phone (aka a "hum eliminator," "buzz eliminator," and so on). T...

Re: Recording over silence gives severe distortion
No one who knows easy way wayto insert fresh narrative before existing recording please? Probably no one's in the mood to do your legwork. Sometimes you just have to dig. It might take days. We've all been there. There could be a million reasons for your problem. Perhaps none is Goldwave-related. Y...

Re: No sound when using Behringer device
Strange about all of those Behringer interface problems. I have several UCA202s. As Doug said, the UMC series are plug-and-play. Normally, they're as close to trouble-free as you can get, and should work without issue even with Win 8.1. I'll add, though, that the last time I actually recorded, as op...

Re: Add Random Muting to a Sound File?
You might want to install the demo, then consult the instruction manual. I don't know why people ask questions they could answer themselves if they just used the available resources.

Re: Starting a new recording
Anything I told you would simply be a regurgitation of the instruction manual. I've done fully manual, 1hr+ recordings in GW with positive results, but I can't remember exactly what I did, since the last recording I made was probably 3 or 4 years ago..

Re: GW acting nutty under Windows 8.1
No problems on Win 11, so far. If you're determined to hang onto Win 8.1, I suggest installing an older version of GW.

Re: Novice; creating 'rumble' of surf?
I would start with recordings of actual surf noises and just manipulate those. And I wouldn't use GoldWave to do it. I would use an app that would allow me to manipulate separate tracks, something like Audacity or Reaper. Then I could time the different effects, fade in, fade out --- that sort of th...

Maybe enable "ignore floating-point errors" in the GW setup GUI.

Re: External device input via USB
The cheapest audio interfaces I've used are made by Behringer. They usually go for between $20 and $30. They're sold by Sweetwater and Amazon.
The interfaces are plug-and-play, meaning that you don't need any additional software to get the app to recognize them.

Re: export custom spectrum filter presets
Goldwave Setup > Backup Settings. This creates an XML file which can be loaded into Goldwave. I THINK this includes effect/filter presets, but don't quote me. Check in the manual to be certain.

Re: v6.74 "file type not supported" errors with flac files
Downgrade = Simply reinstall an older version of GW. I do it fairly often.
