GOOD! That's one of the things I like about GoldWave. Chris is a conservative programmer. He is more concerned about making a solid bug-free program than adding all of the latest features. That actually has me a little worried. I can't imagine that a programmer wouldn't check the performance of his...

Oddity concerning"Reduce average..." in Match Volu
This new feature does not seem to work correctly in all cases. If you set the desired average level first, then click the "reduce average..." radio button, the radio button is ignored, and the peak level is allowed to go past 1.00, just as if you chose "Allow clipping." If you cl...

Now, how can I import this audio into GoldWave as AC3? Is this possible, or do I have to take an extra step and convert this AC3 file into something that GW can import? It needs to be converted... I've done this with something called AC3 Filter. It has all kinds of settings for how you want the aud...

The first is an effect bypass so one can compare what the current effect settings will sound like in comparison to the original. You can do this already, sort of... the regular playback buttons will bypass the effect, so they can be used to listen to the original, while the buttons in the preview d...

So when I updated to Goldwave v5.12, would the manual have automatically updated? The old manual is overwritten with the unregistered version when you install v5.12. At the top of the unregistered vesion is a link to the web site where you can request the updated registered version. I just did this...

There are some noises/distorrtions that are difficult or impossible to remove. I find that I have to manually edit some clicks, because neither GoldWave nor other programs I use will handle them automatically without doing more harm than good. Manual editing involves zooming in until you can pick ou...

I've hooked up the output VCR/TAPE (2 phono jacks) to the one mini microphone hookup on the laptop. The only other input I have on my Toshiba is a Video input, which didn't seem reasonable to use. IS THIS MY PROBLEM? Yes, you need a line input on your PC for connecting the receiver. If your compute...

I believe it depends upon the particular sound card and its drivers -- not all are capable of providing the streaming audio to GW for it to record.
I use a program called Total Recorder for this purpose (www.highcriteria.com). It should work on most any system.
