Re: right-click, "Open With"
Thanks Gord! I don't know why I never knew I could do this.

right-click, "Open With"
I like being able to right-click a file and "Open With" GoldWave. More often than not, there are times that I'd like to open a 2nd file from the same folder. Opening the file through GoldWave and having to navigate through a bazillion subfolders can be a hassle when right-clicking and &quo...

Windows 7 issue or drivers?
I well aware of the many incompatibility issues people are facing with MQ and Windows 7; not sure this is one of them but I thought I'd throw it out there: I recently upgraded to Windows 7. In MQ for me, the timeline displays the video still frames (as normal) but the preview screen only plays back ...

Re: Windows 7 Stereo Mixer - don't give up hope
Truth is... MOST sound card drivers have stereo-mix disabled at pressure from record companies...it's even possible the option exists in drivers but is blocked in Windows 7 entirely. (emphasis mine) Exactly. It just depends on the soundcard and drivers. I upgraded to Windows 7 and upgraded my sound...

Re: Mono Origianl vs Stereo CD
I agree with Tristan. Process it all in mono. ... There are likely fewer issues faced with monophonic tape than there are with, say, monophonic shellac disc, where peculiar wear patterns might favor one region of a groove over another and, therefore, one channel over another. This still might be an ...

Re: I need to archive 200 cassettes... HELP!
I did the high-speed-dub-and-halved-the-sample-rate thing for an audiobook that my sister wanted on CD. It was good enough as far as I was concerned (i.e., for the non-audiophile masses.) As DougDbug said, when doing it at high-speed, you can't effectively monitor it. In my case, I wasn't trying to ...

Re: Stereo to mono by removing one channel
You can always select JUST the desired channel (CTRL-SHIFT-L for left channel or CTRL-SHIFT-R for right channel), then copy it (CTRL-C) and then paste the lone channel as a new file (CTRL-P). Since only one channel was selected and copied, the "paste as new" file will be a one-channel (mon...

Re: Can't use undo after saving changes
You have just discovered why we so frequently advise that it is best to make a copy of the original track, save it and put it away so it can not be molested in any way. Work on the copy. And if harddrive space is no big deal, it's a smart idea to save the multiple revisions as separate copies along...

I know you got it done in Audacity, but here it is in GoldWave just for the record:
Effect-->Resample

Re: Using multiple soundcards for separate recordings
Yeah, I had a guy that was paying me bunk for transferring 40 C120 cassette tapes to digital with full restoration... I hear ya, man; I've been there and done that. And like you, I did a pretty shoddy job as well. I had captured the audio at 44.1 kHz with my tape deck's high-speed dubbing engaged (...

Re: Using multiple soundcards for separate recordings
That'll certainly save you time. I just got a second sound card; haven't had to use the two simultaneously. Knowing that it's theoretically possible, it's something that I've pondered about.

Re: youtube video
In MultiQuence, choose 512 as the width and 288 as the height. That gives 16:9 aspect ratio (widescreen) without being HD.
Likewise, 1024 x 576 (definitely not HD) gives the same 16:9 aspect ratio.

It's also possible that you, somehow, set that particular play button to play "All" rather than "selection" as preferred. If that's the case, just change it back to play "selection." (F11 will get you there.)

Re: Stacking / Harmony Tracks
I have made decent-sounding "multitrack" recordings using only GoldWave as DougDbug explained. The only problem is, since you can only mix one file at a time, and can only adjust the volume of said lone file, by the time you've stacked 5 or 6 files together, the ones at the "bottom&qu...
