Re: v5.54 and metadata
The disc# will not be supported. Information related to discs and tracks is quickly becoming irrelevant. So, without this information, how is a player supposed to determine the playing order of the tracks? It sounds like the user would have to set the order manually. Seems like a step backwards to ...

Re: v5.54 and metadata
The FLAC plug-in is still limited to just the core items. It will be nice when the flac plug-in is updated. For those who have run into this, you might want to check out a free program called mp3tag . It has a copy/paste feature for tags that works with many formats, including flac. You can use it ...

v5.54 and metadata
Isn't v5.54 supposed to preserve at least some additional metadata compared to v5.52 and earlier? It seems to lose everything that previous versions did, at least with flac format. In particular, artwork, composer and disc# tags all disappear.

Re: Good Job, Chris!
Same here! The new release has the plug-ins I use working just as they did in GW 5.25. Very nice indeed.donrandall wrote:I am very pleased with the release of the new Goldwave Plug-In to make aftermarket plug-ins work within Goldwave -- And I thank you for that because it really is very helpful to me!

Re: MP3 Tags
It is only recently that anyone has even commented on the lack of image support in GoldWave, which is an indication of how rarely that frame is used. That may change in the future. I think it's more of an indication of the increasing importance of full tag suppport, including images. Take my situat...

Re: DBX noise reduction encoded cassettes
You can find outboard dbx units at places like eBay, which you can use with any tape machine. Ths simplest one you can find would be fine for your needs, since you're only interested in playback. The fancier units that could encode and decode simultaneously would be overkill. FWIW, I've had troubles...

There is a hitch in the git-a-long just now. Chris is aware of it and I'll just betcha he'll come up with an answer for it in short order. Let's hope so... it's disappointing to see this happen with what has always been such a reliable program. I encountered a number of issues also, and had to rest...

Re: Need Help With DirectX Plug-Ins
In migrating to 5.51, I lost my DirectX Plug-Ins. I realize that was explained prior to updating to the newest version. I have discovered that, even after downloading a new DirectX Plug-In, I can not find a way to get the buttons to show up on the Tool Bar. The various Plug-Ins show up under Option...

I like your suggestion. I've often thought it would be nice to be able to easily move forward/backward a precise unit of time. A good example would be when manually de-clicking a recording made from a vinyl record. It would be nice to move one revolution (1/33rd, 1/45th or 1/78th of a minute) forwar...

Are there any general settings in Goldwave for optimal capture of these cassettes? I am most interested in ensuring that background hiss (a common problem with cassette playback) is always removed, and that I get a best-quality WAV file, and would like to know which filters to use at what settings,...

Re: LP to CD and USB phono amps
I'm tempted to the NAD PP-3 so I downloaded the manual. It says that the USB output is digital, sampled at 48kHz which presumably would 'travel' better and avoid the PC A/D converter and go straight into Goldwave as a digital stream. Is this correct? Yes, this should produce better results. It's aw...

There are a lot of burnng programs around, many of which will do what you want. You might be able to find a free program that you like. I know that InfraRecorder is nice, but I don't remember for sure if it does what you want. FWIW, I settled on Feurio quite a while ago, and haven't found anything I...
