I know of only one Dialogic ADPCM algorithm. I suspect the correct one is something completely different. SoX supports a wider variety of ADPCM algorithms.

Re: Potential Customer Lost

Please see the original post for an answer. Note that contacting GoldWave Inc. directly usually provides a faster reply. I respectfully mention that searching ( Edit | Find on This Page in Internet Explorer) the GoldWave Manual ( Help | Manual in GoldWave) for "32 bit" provides an immediat...

Re: What about 32 bit?

GoldWave supports several different forms of 32-bit audio, including PCM , IEEE floating point , and big or little endian . CDs contain 16 bit PCM audio, so saving in 32 bit PCM format is considered a waste of space. It does not improve quality and few programs and almost no hardware support that bi...

Re: having trouble starting GoldWave

Unfortunately that is a common problem with the NVIDIA driver. You'll need to download the latest driver from NVIDIA's website or re-install the original driver included with the system/card. You could try using Windows Update to see if that lists a new driver, but some people suspect that Windows U...

Re: Volume match with dialogic vox format

If others are looking for the solution, the answer is to use the Options | File Formats command and Add a default format for the VOX file type. That will allow GoldWave to automatically recognize VOX files for opening and batch processing (as long as they all have the same attributes).

There is a tutorial in the GoldWave manual (See Help | Manual, Appendix D). It covers most of the steps for vinyl recording and remastering.

Re: More help with Time Warp (stretching WAV file)

It sounds like you are using an older version of GoldWave. Try v5.08, if your system supports it.

Try the Effect | Expander/Compressor command with the "Boost quiet parts" and/or the "Reduce loud parts" presets.

Re: Mini disc recording

The Equalizer effect can improve audio that sounds flat by raising the right most (high frequency) bands. Raising the left bands would improve bass.

A large difference of 52 seconds might indicate a different problem, such as the wrong frame rate or dropped frames. Rather than changing the speed of the audio, changing the speed of the video may work better.

Re: Root extraction evaluation

The Offset effect cannot be chained, but it can be used in Batch Processing. The Expression Evaluator cannot be used that way since it is designed as a tool rather than an effect. Have you tried using the Expander/Compressor effect with the "Boost quiet parts" preset or the Dynamics effect...

Re: Help! Identify the sound format

The file you sent appears to be some form of 7 bit encoded audio, signed, but not twos complement . If you open the file in GoldWave as "PCM signed 8 bit ", then enter the expression "((wave(n)>0.5)*(0.5-wave(n)))+((wave(n)<0.5)*wave(n))" in the expression evaluator tool, you'll ...

Does it help if you use Start | Program | GoldWave | GoldWave Setup and check the "Fix damaged FPU state" box? If not, are there any details about the crash? Does the crash occur if you use File | Batch Processing to use the effect?

Did that happen in GoldWave v5.08 or was it an older version?
