Save As problem
I assume, GW should remember the last format saved; sometimes it does, sometimes it maintains the original format. It appears to be an intermittent problem. I probably Save As more often than most.

Re: How to extend a recording from 30 secs to 30 minutes
I have recorded a sound for 30 seconds. However, I want to extend the recording to 30 minutes without having to record for that long. Is there a way to change this 30 second recording into 30 minutes? Maybe you mean you want an easy way to Copy/Paste [append] the 30 second recording to 30 minutes?

Re: Would like to see lower Sample Rates allowed.
I would like to see sample rates allowed down to 40hz, such that when I select a sample rate for a new file, I could select a value as low as 40hz. 40hz sample rate would have a maximum sound frequency of 20hz. This would be great for recording infrasound, which could then be increased into the aud...

Re: Equivalent of Audacity's leveller in Goldwave?
Hi all, In Audacity the leveller effect will lower the peaks and raise the troughs. I run a light leveller repeatedly until I get the levels I like, then use Audacity's compressor the brings the levels back up to max. The result is an all round increase in volume and a fuller sound. Is there an equ...

Re: Make a song louder
Simple answer: Effect -> Volume Change Volume or Effect -> Volume -> Maximize Volume . Be careful! If you push the peaks over 0dB, you can get clipping (distorted flat-topped waves) when you save, or when you play. GoldWave uses floating-point and can go over 0dB internally, but CDs and "regul...

Re: Mix sometimes causes glitches
Thanks Doug, I'll review those options. The file is indeed edited, a voice recording that I edit, cut into three parts and append an intro and an outro to each. It's the outro where there could be a problem. the outro starts with a 'faded in' section, you can hear the music already playing, but it ...

Re: Trouble getting the VST plug-in to recognize Certain VST
...is there a Plug-in, or other, way to echo a portion of the ending and have it repeat as it fades? Very carefully select very precisely what you would like to repeat. Ctrl/C will copy and Ctrl/V will paste in the copy as many times as you care to repeat Ctrl/V. Then, use the Shape Volume tool to ...

Re: Trouble getting the VST plug-in to recognize Certain VST
Hi Jack, While the rapper would suffice, it doesn't really fix the root of the problem. Gold Wave actually doesn't require rappers anymore because it comes with VST support right out of the box now. Using a rapper would bypass this, so would be counterproductive. Any more ideas? I think while I'm w...

Re: Trouble getting the VST plug-in to recognize Certain VST
Hi all, I'm new here on the forums, but figured I've been using Gold Wave long enough to contribute a bit. My first post here is a question. I should perhaps E-mail support about this, but I thought I'd ask here first. Many VST plug-ins I use work well in Gold Wave. Most of them are relatively simp...

Re: Congratulations on 20 years of GoldWave, Chris!
AudioGrabber Oh.....wow. There's a program I hadn't heard in quite a looooong time. I didn't find out about AudioGrabber till sometime in 1998 or so. Prior to that; I was recording music from an external player with Goldwave. Back then; ripping CD's wasn't anywhere near as easy as it was now. Vario...

Re: Congratulations on 20 years of GoldWave, Chris!
Wow. I agree completely with all the nice things everyone in this thread has posted. Especially Sarge, who eloquently said what was in my head. Thank you very much, Chris. My daughter was very young, and very sad because her favorite program, (AudioGrabber) was not going to be developed anymore. I ...

Re: Understanding Expression Evaluator terms
Hi - this program is great for doing effects on audio and ive been using the expression evaluator as a template for writing some effects in C For the tremolo effect for example, the expression is wave(n) * ((1-y) + y * sin(2*pi*f*t)) In my program i have an array set up that is holding values that ...
