Re: Unable to record
To update my note of a few days ago: Now today my system will not record into Goldwave. Windows tells me that my record and playback device is working and being recognized. Goldwave recognizes my Presonus Audiobox USB interface. If I play some music via my playback program on my computer, it will re...

Re: Could not record
I just wrote a note in another thread (Unable to record) in which I recounted my difficulty.
I have my stem working again... you might want to find that note.

Re: Unable to record
I recently went through something similar -- after working perfectly the day before, I suddenly found that I was not able to record. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Steinberg drivers. That didn't fix the problem. I persevered, brave soul that I am. I checked everything I could in terms of Windows ...

>>what "volume tab"? Where? :: When I punch up F11, Control Properties opens. I then show Play, Record, Volume, Visual, Device and System tabs. When you select the Volume tab you should get a pop up window. Find Volume Device, look for the v at the right edge of the gray field. You should ...

Re: Mono recording, downmix resp.
My VU meter show sound whether I'm recording or not. If there is a source providing sound, My VU meter shows it and I adjust accordingly before I start recording. I don't even have a sound window open, but my VU meter is showing the sound I have feeding right now. F11 to open Control Properties, Rec...

Re: a buzzing after recording for a while
Hey.... That's great! I'm happy that you solved your problem. RF from the monitor... wow. That's one I never would have thought of. I have two monitors on my desktop, but my computers are on the other side of a wall. I've removed the spinning hard drives and replaced them with solid state hard drive...

Re: a buzzing after recording for a while
Tony, I'm sorry I couldn't come up with an answer for ya. I'm thinking you are right in suspecting some sort of outside interference. Check the area for shortwave or business band antennas on tall towers, perhaps in someone's back yard, or even on their roof. Are you near any military installation o...

Re: a buzzing after recording for a while
Tony, I wish I could come up with a surefire answer for ya, but I don't have one. The problem isn't always there, so that would seem to eliminate the possibility that you are recording at an excessively high "level". I always try to keep it low... always indicate no more than about 50%. It...

Re: a buzzing after recording for a while
Tony - I have voiced commercials, audio books and various other projects for several years using Goldwave. I've never had a problem traceable to Goldwave. I use an Audio Technica 4040 mic, and either a Focusrite Saffire or Presonus preamp, but have recently decided that a Yamaha preamp in my mixer w...

You should see a little triangle ▼ to the right of the icon. Click that to display the recent file list.
Wowsers... Thank You. I think that would have been helpful to me from time to time, but I never knowed it!

Re: OT: A Note to Chris
Chris... I and many others are happy with what you have done for all of us. I am now retired, so that makes me a hobbyist today. But for many years, I was a broadcaster, and dabbled in the VO market. For years, I had to use reel to reel tape and razor blades... much more work and no possibility of d...

Re: Detect Silences and Reduce Volume (Breaths)
Gravy... If you value the quality of your voiceover, edit each breath separately. Highlight the breath, take a look at the time (shown near the bottom of your screen) and perhaps remove a third, perhaps as much as half, of that breath from the middle. Some breaths are longer or shorter duration than...

Re: Sliding Event
If I understood the question properly, adding or subtracting from one channel or the other should work. I had one occasion some time ago that need the right and left channels to be better aligned and that is what worked for me.
