Re: MaxMatch without the maximize

Turned out to be a lot more complicated. I only got it to "acceptable" by doing almost sample level volume adjustment by hand along with sliding gain. It still sounds a little fluttery....but it's probably a defect that just can't be fixed.

MaxMatch without the maximize

Hello everyone, I've come up against something I've been racking my brain on for the last 15 hours. I've got a CD that apparently had a bad spot in the master tape in the form of a dropout. This is not a simple quarter second dropout...it "sounds like someone thre a magnet in the tape machine&q...

Re: is there a way to find clipping point/cue?

Typically you need pretty specialized plugins since fixing clipping requires repairing the original waveform, which means guessing at the original shape/amplitude. Basic tools won't do it, they'll let you reduce the sample so it doesn't hit clip level; but it's still got a flat-top and all the disto...

Re: audio staticts is there a way ?

Goldwave can give you the peak amplitude in a selection by virtue of the maximize plugin. But there is nothing for RMS stastitics.

Re: Needle drop 'skipping'

I gave up on PC based recording years ago. Yes, it's nice and handy; but a PC is prone to too many issues recording wise. My suggestion...which is probably not a very popular one; is you move recording entirely away from the PC and in to some kind of dedicated device. The first thing this does is re...

Re: Detect Silences and Reduce Volume (Breaths)

Ideally I'd like to visually see the marked silences in the waveform first and then adjust the settings. Anything like this in Goldwave? You can use auto-cue to mark silence. This would at least give you markings on where silence was detected and could zoom in. I don't think this is the type of thi...

Re: Raw, ISDN A-Law, mono, Hz 8000

Have you tried the following: Renaming a file to have a .mp3 extension and see if Goldwave opens it without a dialog? Renaming a file to have a .wav extension and see if Goldwave opens it without a dialog? If I were to make a guess, someone either renamed a .mp3 to .voc; or someone attempted to rena...

Re: v6.27 Cue Points function bug?

You shouldn't be using # in the CUE name anyway as this can cause incompatibilities with other software. I don't even know if it's a valid character for CDText. That's just the way the program is going to work though. When you set it to parse the CUE name, it detects every # as part of the cue name....

Re: Feature Request: Update Performer From Cue File During S

What format are you splitting to? Goldwave will use some of the CUE information because I have files I split and exported that have time index as title names...haha. As far as performer...it's in the spec but nothing seems to use it. I author all my CDs from bin/cue usually. Ive never seen a player ...

Re: Lyric removal

There's a censored version on Vemo. You can use Goldwave's ability to record WASAPI mix (loopback in recording devices) to record the small segment that's edited. Then...if your editing skills are any good; seamlessly paste it back in to the song.

Re: How do I do FFT frequency shift?

So I started thinking about this particular post a month ago because as someone with many different hobbies...I see multiple ways of attacking this. The first would be the traditional audio method of pitch-shifting by whatever amount shifts everything 2khz..then applying low or high pass filters. Th...

Re: Best practice to reduce a 24/192 recording down to 16/44

Always process your file completely before doing any downconversion of sample-rate and resolution. Part of the reason for this is that Goldwave (and 99% of all other editors) internally process in 32-bit float; so even 24-bit audio is going to get "mapped up" and processed as float. This i...

Re: FLAC 1.3.2 released

When the new build is released, a way to choose Flac compression level would be neat. I batch convert most of my files to flac, and some of them I'd like to do level 8 compression on. No idea what setting Goldwave uses. When you go to save a file as FLAC, click the attributes button at the bottom o...

Re: 6.21 Please fix the waveform display artifacts...

Inaccuracies are to be expected when working at that zoom level. You're not looking at every sample, just an average.
