File merge tool options

I have a need which I don't think can be done in Goldwave, but I'm not sure. Anyway if not, I know there's a lot of general audio knowledge on this forum and someone may know of a tool which can help me. I have say 300 mp3 tracks and I need to concatenate them in pairs so I wind up with 150 tracks. ...

Cue points named with ASCII?

I like the 3 options now for naming cue points during auto-cue, but it seems no matter which option I select, the cue points are showing up in the list and being named with some unintelligible ascii characters. Do I possibly have a setting wrong? This really doesn't cause me any difficulty, because ...

Same happens to me...

Yes I have the same problem with the visual. Again, the situation corrects itself when I detach the control window, then the visuals work. I do like the floating toolbars other than that though... Ok - a clue - another thing I wanted was to save my window settings upon exit as the window kept coming...

Minimize Goldwave during batch processing

I know it has to do with modal screens and such, but it would be really nice to be able to minimize Goldwave to the taskbar while running long batch processing jobs. I like the way the control window can appear as either a separate screen, or part of the parent screen. Maybe at some point the batch ...

Wish List: Auto-Cue Presets

I do a lot of repetitive auto-cueing with 2 - 4 of the same cue settings regarding length of silence, cue placement etc. It would be very helpful to me to be able to save these settings as presets & recall them easily. Just a wish list item if it's an easy or popular thing. Thanks for listening ...

Thanks Chris,

Yes, it's a local file. I've heard a lot of things, such as SP2 "broke" the functionality of Media Player being started remotely but who knows. I appreciate the input and thanks for your great product.

Thanks Piano Nick

I guess like you I try to be safe rather than sorry and tend to do only one save/file split into MP3's. Maybe sometime I'll play with it just for grins and will post what I find here.

Multiple saves of a file degrades quality...?

Does anyone have a feel for how much "copy of a copy of a copy of a copy" etc. degradation occurs when a particular file is opened and re-saved many times in Goldwave? Specifically, I record an audio file as 32kbps mono (not real high quality to begin with but adequate for what I want). Th...

Windows Media Player Question

This is not specifically a Goldwave question, but I want to run Media Player to record into Goldwave on my computer at work. I need to start the process from my home computer (both computers using XP Professional) using VPN to connect to my office LAN. Everything seems to start ok, but it seems that...

If you open an MP3 with GoldWave, and then re-save it, the quality will be degraded by the 2nd (lossy) MP3 encode. There are a few MP3 editors which can perform some limited audio processing without re-coding, but most processing/editing will require decoding & re-coding. If possible, you shoul...

Thanks for checking Piano, and usually mine works ok also. Sometimes I'll have 2 or 3 instances going, doing different fairly intensive work, etc. and that is usually when I see the situation occurring. Oh and might be helpful, I'm running Windows XP Professional on a 2.60 ghz machine, lots of hard ...

Instances of Goldwave remain active in task manager

I may not be shutting Goldwave down correctly - many times when I have closed Goldwave I notice the application is still running in task manager. Not under the "Applications" tab, but under the "Processes" tab I might have one or more instances of goldwave.exe. Usually it is when...

Tape wow/flutter

I record from some tapes which will have a pattern of a second or two of bright, good sound, followed by a second or two of muffled sound and this cycle repeats for much of the tape. Sounds like a "rolling" muffle/bright pattern. Often it clears up within the first few minutes of the tape....
