As usual, Don is right on the money. When I'm working on a project, I archive all wavs, project files, lyrics, everything by sticking 'em all in a zip or rar file & getting the archive OFF THE MACHINE, onto a cd or some other medium. I can't stress enough how important it is to backup your stuff...

You want to go to Window Options & choose the "left/right mouse button" method.

IMHO, there' s no reason to use Real anymore. WM has caught up in the video department, & most people can stream mp3 well enough to make it a non-issue. Regarding metadata, whichever program you use to convert to Real should give you the ability to (manually, at worst) enter title, song name, etc.

I remember the first time I ran into that phenomenon...as a teenager, rockin' out with the headphones on, listening to Zep's 4th album...& I distinctly heard the "Hey hey Mama" of "Black Dog" before the song actually started. I tried to tell my friends about it, but they blam...

I like the sound (no pun intended) of both suggestions. I, too, miss the percentage-based volume adjustments.

1) Buy the program so this never happens again. 2) Check your windows/temp folder & see if there's a gw temp file there. You might be able to resurrect your track that way. The procedure is in the docs, & probably here on the forum too. 3) Forgive me, but I've seen this happen...make ...

I use the "old" Goldwave editing method, & it works for me. My left mouse button moves the start marker & the right button, the end marker. Select the area you need to delete, & delete it. I'm glad that Chris kept that style of editing as an option as he upgraded the program ov...

I haven't been able to get either my old USB Dazzle or the current PCI card Dazzle I'm using to communicate with GW, or any other programs other than Dazzle's own, like Movie Star. If you do use their software, you can get pretty good sound quality out of it...just save your wav file & do all th...

making GoldWave the same as "most other audio editors" is not a goal of mine
Thank goodness. Especially when you consider the prices of "most others".

I'm also a fan of the db stuff...I use Tempo Delay very often. The best-functioning DX plug I use in GW is also the one I use most often, Timeworks' Mastering Compressor. Note that creating/saving custom presets within TMC & GW does NOT make them available to other hosts...in other words, your s...

My point was that since I had let it install in a nested folder, it didn't pick up my previous saved settings. Look for a file called "GoldWaveSettings.gws" & make sure it's in the proper directory, & not set as read-only. Good luck.

I had something similar happen when I installed 5.16. Turns out I'd mistakenly allowed the program to install itself in /Program Files/Goldwave/Goldwave, rather than /Program Files/Goldwave. It was easily corrected, & everything works as it's supposed to.
