Time Wrap

Postby ieiuu » Tue Mar 13, 2018 3:57 pm

I would like to decrease the speed of the song for 1.20% as DJ's can do with their tools. As in Time Wrap "Rate" Algorithm "100%" means original speed, which on DJ tools means 0%, I have calculated the following:

100 - 1.20% = 98.80%.

Is this kind of calculation correct, also in the opposite direction (speed increasing)?

I'm not even sure what you mean when you say "for"...

I agree it's confusing bit if you click Help it explains it... If I say increase by 50% that's faster, but that's NOT how GoldWave works.

If I say change the speed to 50% that's slower. Or, I could say 50% of the original speed, and that's how GoldWave works. It's a multiplication factor.... 200% of the original speed is 2.00 x the original speed.

So, think of the words "to" and "of". 100% of the original or to 100% of the original is no change.

Thank you for your response. English language is my third language (not primarily) so this could be the reason “for” sounds unusual in that context and “to” and “of” sound confusing to me now. I will try to explain this with an explanation from the “DJ world”:

A DJ turntable (would like to post an image, but forum does not allow that to the new users) has on the bottom-right side the speed slider with percents of speed, from -8% to +8%. In the middle the turntable plays a song on original speed (marked as “0%”). When DJ slows down the speed of the song (which has original speed 115 BPM) by moving the slider from original (“0%” in the middle) to -1.20%, the song speed would become 113.62 BPM. What would that mean in GoldWave, how to achieve (calculate) that?

And the other direction, when one wants to speed-up the song and moves the slider to +3% (118.45 BPM), what would that mean in GoldWave?
