spikes removal

Post by Dirk100 »

I have an audio file of a conversation in which the speaker, from time to time, slapped his hands on the desk where the mic was placed. Subsequently the file has these large spikes (a few) that causes a sharp sipke on the time line and the pitch drowns his speech (for a moment). I know there is a way to isolate these few sections and filter the sharp spike out so that the vocal is clear. Please help

If the slap overloads the microphone, then it may not be possible to cleanly restore the speech in those areas. Excessive overloading often destroys the shape of quieter waveforms, leaving nothing to restore. Try using a bandpass filter with a range from 200Hz to 3000Hz to see if the speech is improved at all.

I will try the band pass. I did have the in camera mic on while shooting (separate from the table dat mic). So I am hoping that if I can't clean these sections I will be able to replace them. I will let you know how it turns out.

Thanks
