Pitch and noise reduction (help)

Post by Dirk100 »

I have an audio file of a conversation in which the speaker from time to time slapped his hands on the desk where the mic was placed. Subsequently the timeline has these large spikes (a few) that causes a sharp sipke on the time line and the high pitch drowns his speech (for a moment though it is still clearly under there). I know there is a way to isolate these few sections and filter the sharp spike out so that the vocal is clear. Please help

killing those spikes

I'd try it this way: select JUST the table-slapping noise in Goldwave & copy it to the clipboard. Make sure to re-select the whole file after copying. Go to Filter/Noise Reduction, choose Use Clipboard under Reduction Envelope, then choose the preset called "clipboard noise print". This should kill the table noise throughout the file....hopefully it won't kill the voice too badly in those spots. Let me know how you make out.
