Wavpack?

Post by sigerson »

Is it possible to add Wavpack audio codec support sometime in the future?

That is a possibility. It seems to have a free and open source license. Since GoldWave supports several lossless formats already (FLAC, WMA lossless, and Monkey's Audio), there has not been much interest in WavPack support so far, so anyone interested should post.

I'd also like to see WavPack support added at some point. As you mentioned, Chris, it is indeed free and open-source. I switched to it from FLAC about a year ago, because it yields better compression than FLAC, and because for some reason, WavPack files playback smoothly in my audioplayer, while APE files frequently do not.

Thanks,

Jim

I would very much like direct support for Wavpack.

If you install the WavPack DirectShow filter, that allows GoldWave to open WavPack files so that you can edit or convert them. However, you cannot save in WavPack format. A native GoldWave plug-in would have to be created for that.
