You gave me good advice on a recent question. Now it isn't working.
I have a portable cassette player I wish to use to convert tapes to CDs.
Using a RCA cable and an adapter I have connected it to my computer. I should be getting sound out my comoputer speakers. I'm Not! I have the RCA cable plugged into the headphone jack on the player and the line-in plug on the computer. In volume controls the line-in is checked. What else do I need to do?

Is the Line In checked in the Recording volume control ?

Is the right sound device connected in Goldwave?

Line In is checked in the Recording control.

With the player connected to the computer anything I play should come thru the speakers......right? Even if I'm not recording just listening.

If you want to monitor what comes from the Line Input, it must be also checked in the output control. Recording and output are controlled separately.

I'm not very computer literate. Explain output controls. Please!

Line In is not muted.

I checked "Allow playback while recording." Still no sound.

I have a RCA cable. It is pluged into the recorder with an adapter Y plug. The other end is plugged into the computer where there is a light blue plug. It is the only plug left that I can use. It has a microphone with an arrow pointing to the left.

What I don't understand is why I can't get sound now when I had it before.

I haven't changed the way the recorder is pluged in. I checked the settings many times. No sound!

Edited to say when I click record the lines on the right move indicating it is recording. No sound during playback.
