when I use open with gold wave opens but not the file

when I use open with or always open with goldwave in xp goldwave opens only not the file. it would be nice if goldwave could set record and/or edit for files in options just like you can in winamp or windows media but how can I fix it that I can use edit command to OPEN the files instead of only opening goldwave

That is possible to do, but you have to edit the "action type" for Open. You'd do that in Windows Explorer under "Tools | Folder Options". Select the "File Types" tab, then the Wav type (or MP3, etc.). Choose the Advanced button. You can then make a new Open command or edit the existing one. The application used to perform the action should be:

"D:\Program Files\GoldWave\GoldWave.exe" "%1"

The quotes are required. You can also add "/play" to automatically start playback. The "Use DDE" option must not be checked.

I've used that technique to add an "Edit" option to all audio types, like wav, mp3, aif, etc. Right click, select "Edit", & the file opens in GW, ready to be worked on. Shweeeeet.
