Hello.

After uninstall, Windows doesn't work at all, and it's
unable to launch any .exe file.

Note : No problem encounter under Windows XP 64 SP2.

I have installed and uninstalled GW 5.51 several times without any problem; I have not uninstalled 5.52.

Just one question: did you uninstall through the Windows Add/Remove panel or through an Uninstaller ?

Through the Windows Add/Remove panel.

I've 2 PCs, one connected to internet, the other not, so
the other have less windows updates (as 99% of updates
are security), and different hardware, but both under
XP32 Pro SP3, and a normal Windows version, not a LSD
or any kind. Also, it's a version already in SP3, not
a version with SP3 installed after.
I've got the same problem with both.
I use the installer exe version (gwave551.exe),
and remove it through the Windows Add/Remove panel.
On both PCs, after uninstall of 5.51 version, windows was
totaly blast off !!!
One thing : After the uninstall through de Add/Rem, it tells
me that all the things were not been able to be uninstalled.
Same thing occured with 5.52.

Sorry, jpsdr, I am afraid I do not see what's wrong, and I cannot help you; I think it must be related to SP3.
Sorry

Registry problems! Generally it means you have some other kind of virus on your system. If it's the one I think it is..it waited till something modified the registry and trashed portions of it. Not running EXE's means it's an extension registration problem.

Try these:

http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-20 ... n-exe.html

http://en.kioskea.net/faq/sujet-1570-un ... -files-exe

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/exefile.htm

good luck.

I'll see them, but problem is it's specific to goldwave.
No problem when i uninstall others programs.
I've got the same problem with my other PC
wich is not connected to internet, i work betwen
them only with USB key, and i'm always uptodate
to windows update, and i've scanned my PC (Kaspersky),
nothing detected.
Even if i consider this option possible, actualy, it has
a very low probability.
More, i've uninstalled another program just before
goldwave, without problem...
The fact is that actually it happened to me only with goldwave...
Otherwise, i've already solved my problem by restoring a
backup of my system, else, i'll not be here talking.

It is possible there's a goof in Goldwave's uninstall script that's unregging EXE files....that is the ONLY thing I can see happening.

I do not see it being a thing of Goldwave killed your PC, it only looks that way. It didn't give me any issues...making me think whatever happened was local to your PC.

You could also uninstall about 3 programs and if you don't reboot between them, you'll NEVER know what the problem is.

Hello.

I've made more tests, here the results :

First : Full scan of system, no virus found.

Install Goldwave 5.25 : No problem

Uninstall ffdshow : No problem
Uninstall AnyDVD : No problem
Install ffdshow (new version) : No problem
Install AnyDVD (new version) : No problem

UNINSTALL GOLDWAVE 5.25 : NO PROBLEM
Note : unstall.exe is version 1.0.10.0 (130560 bytes).

Install Goldwave 5.52 : No problem

Uninstall ffdshow : No problem
Uninstall AnyDVD : No problem

UNINSTALL GOLDWAVE 5.52 : WINDOWS BUSTED !!!!
Note 1 : unstall.exe is version 1.0.11.0 (174080 bytes).
Note 2 : During uninstall, i've a windows with the
following message : [Uninstall] "Not all registry items could be uninstalled"
follow by the message "Program is now uninstalled".

Of course, with 5.25, i've only the "Program is now uninstalled".

I STRONGLY think there is a problem with the uninstall
script/program of 5.51 and 5.52 versions of Goldwave.

If someone of the developper team can realy take a look
and/or make tests !

In case it can help, here the uninstall log files.

The problem is caused by Kaspersky.

I'm really getting fed up with anti-virus programs causing all these unnecessary problems. Maybe it's time to start calling lawyers.

If it any consolation to ya - and I can't imagine that it would be - my website also triggers an alert warning for anyone using... Are you ready for this... our old friend, AVG Antivirus.

I have discovered that there is no possible way any mortal human being can get through to anyone at AVG. I did mess around enough to actually get someone on the phone once - and that person swore up and down that they were a separate company that markets the product but that they are not AVG itself or a part of that company.

Lawyer? Nahhh... just give me an address and me and my trusty chainsaw will pay somebody a visit! Heh, heh, heh... Just kidding. Really... Just kidding.

Kapserky is got to be just about as underhanded as Microsoft...if the product isn't one they make, they're gonna tell you it's got problems.

I just ran rounds with a shuckbot trojan i got from an usb stick...anyway, after it was all clean I went to install Kapserky...and you know what it told me?

"The following programs are incompatible with Kapskery, these programs must be uninstalled to continue with installation:
Microsoft Defender
Spybot S&D"

now, K-AV doesn't offer ANY kind of spy/mal/adware protection...it's merely wanting you to buy THIER solutions. If you reinstall the programs, it will pop up on next boot saying basically "I can't (I'm not going to) run with these things installed"

i say we go with avast...that's seemed to cause the least amount of problems for me and will probably cause less headaches with everyone else...although if you wanna buy a good AV solution... ca makes a good one that never detected goldwave as a virus and never complained about the other spyware apps on my system.

Hello.

The problem is that it appends on my BOTH PC.
One has in effect kaspersky, BUT....
The other one, as it's absolutely NOT connected to
internet have NO antivirus program of any kind.
No firewall, nothing ! All services related to internet
are also disabled. All ethernet connectors are disabled
in the BIOS (this allow to have at boot a windows using
only around 95Mo of memory).

All the tests described, with log files, are coming from
this PC, wich doesn't have kaspersky.

So, unfortunately, it doesn't explain the problem for this one...

Note :
@Dewdude420 :
I don't know about Microsoft Defender,
but for Spybot, you can install it AFTER Kaspersky
without any problems.
