That looks like a problem with Apple's QuickTime module. You may need to install an updated version of QuickTime or iTunes on your computer. Or you can try disabling the QTFile plug-in in GoldWave under Options | File Formats, File Plug-in Precedence tab.

Thanks for your reply. I'm using the latest QuickTime (7.6.6). In GW's File Format Options > File Plugin Precedence, only the first entry refers to anything Apple-related:

[checkbox] GoldWave* Wave, MPEG Audio, Extended Audio, Apple, Apple-C, Amiga, Sun, Sound Blaster, Raw MIDI Instrument Sample... etc.

So you mean I'm supposed to unselect that whole thing? Won't that prevent GW from opening all those other formats too? Or maybe you were thinking of some other location?

Sorry, this is a new install, with a new OS and new versions of GoldWave and QuickTime, so I don't know if one or the other is causing the problem.

If the QTFile plug-in is not listed in GoldWave and QuickTime is installed and working properly (and you can play M4A files in QuickTime), then something doesn't seem right. Some people have noticed that uninstalling iTunes can cause problems because it doesn't uninstall cleanly.

GoldWave may be trying to load the QTFile plug-in, but because of a problem with the installation of QuickTime or iTunes, it fails to load and causes a crash later when GoldWave closes. You could try deleting the QTFile.pig plug-in file completely just to see if that makes any difference.

Okay, I've deleted the plugin file from my GW install folder, and that fixed it. Not sure what the problem was, but I don't use QT files with GW anyway... Thanks!

That said, the crashing did add a bit of welcome excitement here in the BC suburbs.

Hiya, folks...long time no see!

Just want to chime in & let people know that Chris' solution for the exit crash also works in Vista. Nice graceful exit once I renamed (then deleted) the QT .pig file.
