AAC/MPEG4 file length/bit rate error

Post by RiscTeX »

Hi,

Please forgive me if this has been discussed and solved before - I have searched and not found anything related to the problem...which is that if I record a WAV in Goldwave and then save it as an AAC/MPEG4 file the resulting file doesn't play back correctly in either winamp of foobar2000, although it does play correctly in Windoze Media Player.

The problem is that winamp and foobar2000 report a wildly incorrect bitrate (far too high) and therefore conclude that the file is very much shorter than it really is. Other AAC/MPEG4 files that I make with other software replay correctly with winamp and foobar2000 so I'm wondering if there's a problem with the Media Foundation codec for AAC/MPEG4s, or more likely I'm doing something wrong...?

Any help - especially a solution would be very welcome. Cheers...
