Memory Access Violation error

I was trying to resample a 24 bit wav file to 16 bit. The process seemed to complete, but I received this error:
"Exception: Memory Access Violation. Address: 0x005DF16B, Module: Goldwave.exe, Write of 0x371A650B".
I've never seen an error like this. Any ideas? Thanks.

What file type are you using (Wave, FLAC, ...)? Does the error occur every time?

Hi Chris,

I've got a similar problem with Goldwave v5.66 (registered version) when I load a 96 kHz mono WAV file (16-bit PCM).

The file loads and then I get a few dialog boxes that say

Exception: Memory access violation.
[Address: 0x008CA977, Module: Goldwave.exe, Read of 0x7FFA1C10]

If I click "OK" a few times the dialog boxes go away. However, playback sounds a little unclear.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
T.

Does it help if you turn off monitoring in GoldWave (press F11, Record tab, "Monitor input on visuals")?

Yes, this seems to fix the problem ...

This workaround is fine for now.

Thanks,

The latest update may help too.

GoldWave, latest version, windows 10 x64, latest updates.
Whenever I open the program, I get:
GoldWave
---------------------------
Access violation at address 00000000004D304F in module 'GoldWave.exe'. Read of address 0000000008207004.

This has happened on two machines running windows 10. I do not think it occurred in windows 7 x64.
Error aside, everything appears to work normally, except when trying to access the CD Rom drive. Then, I get this:

Error

[Main Instruction]
An error occurred while trying to get a device name:
A command to access the CD-ROM drive failed.
Any fixes for this, or do I just have to put up with it?

If that occurs when opening the program, it is most likely caused by either a defective codec or a problem with the sound or display driver. You can use "GoldWave Setup" from the Windows Start menu to disable audio plug-ins and the Audio Compression Manager to see if that helps.

Also make sure you have the latest sound and display drivers from the computer manufacturer.

The CD reader issue may occur form some external CD drives. Or it could be caused by another program accessing the drive when GoldWave is trying to use it (such as AV software).
