From time to time I get some flac audio files that cannot be opened by Goldwave. I am not able to identify any systematic reason - but all of these files can be opened with Audacity or Adobe Audition 3. All files have been converted from overlength wav (i.e. > 4GB - not wav64!) to flac by sox 14.4.1.
Any idea?
Some flac files not readable in Goldwave 6.09
Re: Some flac files not readable in Goldwave 6.09
Have you tried v. 6.10?
I don't want to read the manual either, but, then, it isn't my problem, is it?
Re: Some flac files not readable in Goldwave 6.09
Thank you - yes. But there is no change.
Re: Some flac files not readable in Goldwave 6.09
It sounds like you have found a systematic reason! ...Somehow SOX takes an invalid WAV file and creates a FLAC file that's different from a normal FLAC file, and perhaps the resulting FLAC is itself invalid.I am not able to identify any systematic reason -

I assume you can use Audacity or Audition to make a "new improved" FLAC.
Re: Some flac files not readable in Goldwave 6.09
Saying "all files" really means 90% of the these converted flac files will be imported by Goldwave and some 10% are rejected by the editor. That makes a systematic approach so difficult
In fact sox is currently the only converter that I know that can treat overlength wav files - I would be happy if Goldwave would be able to import them directly.
But I accept that I cannot have everything .

Try using Options | Plug-in | File | FLACFile to ignore corruption in files to see if that helps.
Re: Some flac files not readable in Goldwave 6.09
Thanks for the hint - I will do so when opening any future flac files with this problem.
