show complete file seletion in the Goldwave window
I have been a Goldwave user for a long time--- at least a purchased customer for a long time.
But just now I have run into something that all the looking at options and help does not solve.
The main Goldwave window seems to be stuck at 90. 90 whatevs-- minutes probably.
My clips can be longer than that. But as the waveform runs off the right edge, I cannot use a slider to move
the window area. No slider seen by me at any rate.
I'm trying to learn some new technique for audio. But studying the options has not helped with finding end of clip.
Example would be 100 minutes for a movie length audio. But I may have them as long as 2 hours or more.
It seems like an easy thing I've missed.

Hmmm... I wonder if there's something "funny" with your monitor where the scroll bar is off the bottom of the screen... Have you tried re-sizing the window?
Is the whole file there? Can you play past what you can see?
BTW - I just opened a concert file that's about 105 minutes and I can see the whole thing. You can also try View -> All or View -> Zoom out.

Re: show complete file seletion in the Goldwave window
I'll resize the screen but never had to do that. Gw has always displayed the complete file length.
Will report back on that and view all and the other questions. As to going past the border, no I don't think
that is going to work.
How about a straight reinstall or use a old version? I usually update Gw right away.
Which is an older version a couple back but still in x64? I may have even an older installer on here yet.
Will respond when I have some progress.
Thanks for answering.

Re: show complete file seletion in the Goldwave window
After installing an old version I know it's something I'm doing wrong.
So I'll ask this one one question and get one answer:
You open Goldwave. You select an AAC audio file of 1 hr 30 mins.
You see a window that shows 90 mins on the time line plus a fraction going off screen.
How do you view the whole file?
I'm sure there's only one answer to this. Please supply a screen shot of what you would do.

Maybe this might be the answer for you. Open Goldwave, go to "Options" and select "Windows" At the bottom of this window there is a "Time shown for the View Preset command". Just check the "all" option. When you open a wavefile, it should now display the complete wavefile. (By the way, clicking the mouse wheel with the cursor on the wavefile you can choose to zoom in or out, etc). Peter

Ok thanks. I knew it was something I was doing wrong from only using GW for things like demux audio
and save to a different file type.
I'll practice with it.

I can call this solved since you told me where to check and just reviewed that now.
The other funny behavior related is: if I have a half window of Gw on screen
and drag and drop an hour plus file to it, what seems to happen is that when I go to save,
it saves just that which is showing in the window. Is there another setting for that?
So far I have inspected where it says:
Goldwave > Options > Window > View > All (at the last item select)

Re: show complete file seletion in the Goldwave window
I fiddled with view > all but even setting that out to 10 hours does not show the
full 2 hrs 20 minutes length.
Let me ask it this way:
When requesting an audio file in Audacity, my file loads showing the whole
length fitted in to the _window_ which seems to be the problem.
How is that simple view accomplished in Goldwave? Zoom also did not move to a larger view of the file length.
In a normal windows program, a slider would be available below the image to move rightward. I have not under stood what keys etc are needed to go to the end of my audio file.

Re: show complete file seletion in the Goldwave window
If you use View | All in GoldWave, then it shows the entire file. Note that GoldWave puts the time text to the right of the grid line, so for a 1 hour file, the final grid line at 01:00:00 would be on the right edge of the window, but the actual text for "01:00:00" would be just off screen.
Try clicking on the time axis near the end of the file to start playback and observe the elapsed time.

Please post a screen shot with a description.
Simply put: View All should View All but it doesn't.

Re: show complete file seletion in the Goldwave window
You'll need to provide some screen shots of GoldWave running on your computer (contact). Maybe there is a problem related to screen resolution/high DPI mode (if the display text/scale setting is not 100%).

How long has it been since you calibrated your monitor?
