Since my last Windows 10 update, I was not able to record.
My setup is that I record sounds from my tablet via an external sound card. It workes fine, I used it earlier this week. But overnight, the exact same setup didn't work anymore. The only change I am aware of is a Windows update.
I followed all the steps in the Goldwave instruction at least 5 times, I tried all settings, googled the internet - I almost gave up.
Then finally, I decided to try to record something in another way. So, let's start with the most basic thing: record my voice using the Windows voice recorder. Initially this did not work either, I had to allow Windows voice recorder access to my microphone.
Believe it or not, but after I gave this Windows app access to my micrphone, my setup with the external sound card and Goldwave worked again.
I don't understand why this works. So I post my experience for two reasons
- can somebody explain this?
- maybe it is an addition for the Goldwave help suggestions: check if you can record with the Windows Voice Recorder.
Regards,
Willy

Re: Could not record
I just wrote a note in another thread (Unable to record) in which I recounted my difficulty.
I have my stem working again... you might want to find that note.
