Re: why does't goldwave open alac file under w7?
Microsoft does not include the ALAC decoder in Windows 7.
If you have iTunes and QuickTime installed, you may be able to open ALAC files in GoldWave v5 on Windows 7 (that uses the 32 bit decoders installed by QuickTime). GoldWave v6 (64 bit) cannot use 32 bit decoders.

but goldwave 6 can open Opus and Ogg Vorbis , they are not included in windows 10 ,aren't they?
goldwave supports only Lossless flac compression when i want to save my audio
will goldwave support/add others enceders like WavPack ,Monkey's Audio APE ?
i don't think goldwave will not include the ALAC encoder seeing is not free , is not free right?
thank you so much!

It is simply not worth the development time/cost to create an ALAC plug-in for GoldWave when it already works in Windows 10 using the system decoders. The number of people using ALAC on Windows 7 is way too small.
