Big MP3 file

Post by acdemarco »

I am recording from the Microphone input. My save/as format is mp3 (standard quality). For 5 minutes I am getting a resulting mp3 file which is 56Mb in size. I would have expected something like 5 Mb instead. What am I doing wrong? I have played with different qualities (44100hz, 96kbps, stereo, etc) and the size is not going down. Any help would be appreciate it. I am just starting with this tool, so I would say I am a beginner. Thank you.

You're right, the file should be smaller. You might try saving with a different name just to make sure you are saving/creating a new file.

The bitrate in kpbs is kilobits per second. There are 8-bits in a byte so (ignoring any embedded artwork/metadata) I get: (96k/8) x 300 seconds = 3.6MB.
