Audio to text converter?

Postby thebobk » Sat Feb 17, 2018 4:57 pm

Is anyone working on a way to use GW to convert audio files to text? I've looked at Dragon but (I believe) that tool is fine-tuned to just one speaker and so can't be used if the audio file has several speakers - as in an interview.

You can use Tool | Speech Converter to convert audio files to text. However it uses the Microsoft Speech API, which only gives good results when trained to a specific voice.

I understand you to mean the Dictate function where I speak and the audio is converted to text? What I'm trying to do is import an audio file for conversion to text - is there a way for Goldwave to do this? Thanks!

You'd open a file, select the part of the file you want to convert, then use Tool | Speech Converter, click the Dictate button and choose the "Current selection" option.

Sorry for being "dense" but how do I open a part of an audio file? The file I want to convert to text is in MP3 but I can convert with Goldwave into another format. Thanks.

Here are the steps:
  1. Open the file using File | Open.
  2. (Optional) Select part of the file to convert.
  3. Use Tool | Speech Converter.
  4. Choose the "Dictate" button.
  5. Choose the "Current selection" option.
  6. Choose OK.
