editing out words and just having the music

Post by 11592upsys »

How do I edit out the spoken lyrics in a song and just have the music playing? Like background music. I understand how to lower the vocal level but I cannot figure out how to get rid of them.

I assume you've used the Reduce Vocals feature. That's the best you can do. You can't un-fry an egg or un-bake a cake, and you can't un-mix sound.

The Reduce Vocals function works by subtracting the left from the right. That completely removes all "center channel" sound (and leaves you with a mono file). Sounds that are off-center will be reduced somewhat. Sounds that are full-left or full-right, wont be reduced at all. Any out-of phase sounds will be increased (subtracting a negative is the same as addition).

Even when the main vocal is exactly centered, there is usually some stereo vocal-reverb or background singing that is off-center or out of phase.
