Re: license and settings problems
It works just fine now. (Speculation: In the past when I've installed a new version, I have never uninstalled the old version; I've just installed in "on top of" the old version. And that's what I initially did with v6.09. But the 2nd time around I completely uninstalled v5.70 and installe...

Re: license and settings problems
I have no registry/system "cleaners" that I'm aware of (I do have Norton 360.) I'll have to check "under the hood" and see what I can figure out. I'll post my findings (if any) and/or updates if anything changes.

license and settings problems
OK, so I read that I need to re-enter my license for version 6.09. But that's supposed to be just a 1-time thing, right? I entered my license, but it reverts back to the trial version (along with all the settings reverting to default) upon restart. After three times of this, I decided I was experien...

can't add video file to track
Just some FYI feedback. I can add and mix audio just fine. The very first video I tried adding was a 720p, 6-channel audio AVI file. It loaded into the track just fine, but playback lagged. After that, I decided to just stick with trying only standard-definition, 2-channel audio files. For every vid...

Re: Suggestion For Effects Preview
This can be virtually achieved already; that is, the regular play button still functions normally even when there is an effect [preview] window open. Click the preview button to hear what it'll sound like with the effect added, or immediately hit the regular play button to hear it as-is (all the whi...

Re: Increasing volume of a file to match another
Basically what you did, but a little more "automated," I always use Maximize, then apply the "Reduce Peaks" setting in the Compressor/Expander. Then I keep repeating until the desired RMS value is achieved.

Re: Copy and paste selected area directly after selected are
In doing seamless loops, once I have the audio selected, I copy it (CTRL-C) and then without doing anything else or changing the selection, I have always just immediately pasted (CTRL-V) a bunch of times. It's virtually the same as what Gord explained. I don't know whether it's pasting at the start ...

Re: downsampling an oversampled file
... I assume GoldWave's resampler does [a low-pass filter] for you. From this post (of four years ago), DewDude420 (who was [coincidentally] responding to you) wrote: Goldwave doesn't do any kind of filtering when doing a resample..it does just a straight resample...it's why if you don't pre-filter...

downsampling an oversampled file
I have an oversampled WAV file; its sampling rate is 96 kHz. The audio spectrum seems to peak somewhere around 15 kHz to 16 kHz. If I downsample to 48 kHz or 44.1 kHz, the audio still fits nicely within its corresponding Nyquist limit. Do I still need to apply a low-pass filter before downsampling o...

Line-in swaps channels
This is a hardware issue and not a GoldWave issue, but I'll post it here anyway just to see if any of you have seen this before. When recording from the line-in jack on my soundcard (M-Audio 5.1 Revolution) the monitored stereo sound plays correctly over the speakers. But for the actual recording it...

Re: 16 RPM Vinyl records
Another way is to record at a higher sampling rate (e.g., 88,200 Hz) and then simply change the playback rate to 50% of the original (44,100 Hz.) Effect > Playback Rate... Processing-wise, this method is quicker since the waveform doesn't get processed; it just changes the playback attributes. But t...

Re: Making my Song Edits sound better in Goldwave 5.67
When vocals are centered, I've had pretty good results by simply canceling out the vocals (or using the "remove center channel" under the Stereo Effect if you want to preserve the stereo.) To keep it seamless, I take the immediate waveform on each side of the offending word and crossfade i...

Re: Editing flac files
Like MP3 (and other lossy formats) the different file sizes [of the same waveform] is due to the various compression settings. But unlike MP3, the waveform itself of a FLAC file is lossless. So whether you've used a little or a lot of compression, you're virtually editing the original WAV file. In t...

Re: right-click, "Open With"
... Is "Maximize" selected for the main window under Options | Window ? Yes, the "Maximize" option for the main window is, indeed, selected under Options | Window . There aren't any "maximize" command line parameters that need to be added, are there? If not, it's not a...

Re: right-click, "Open With"
GoldWave has a "-same" command line parameter to open a file in the same instance every time. You'd need to modify the "Open With" command line in Windows to add the parameter. Chris OK, so I edited the "open with" command line parameter adding the "-same" pa...
