Re: noise reduction

There aren't any settings you "should" use. The aim in actual processing is to strike a balance between noise reduction and artifacting. You might have to experiment to find the settings you want.

Check out the GW manual for more info.

Mono recording makes all sound low, fuzzy, and 'mutated':

How about offering some feedback, man? People took the trouble to offer help.

Re: Mono Recording is Effed up

You offer almost no information. I know you're using a mic and a computer, and that's all. Are you using an interface? Is this the first time you've tried recording to mono in Goldwave? If not, were you successful using earlier versions of the program? I've recorded to mono on Goldwave many times wi...

Re: Batch Processing a folder containing audio files, sub folders and non audio files

I think Goldwave would only recognize and process the audio files. But you could run a simple experiment to confirm it; that's what I'd do.

Re: FreeDB is no more

I've found that getting accurate album info online is often a matter of chance. More often than not I just label tracks myself after I rip them.

Re: Registering a (really) old License

OMG. So you got what what you wanted after all, but you're still complaining, simply because you had to update your license on a <$50, 20yo purchase. You should try dealing with Izotope or Avid sometime if you want a real hassle.

Re: Franger Effect

You mean "flanger" effect? There's no simple answer to your question. If you're not willing to experiment, learning to use GoldWave is going to be a real uphill battle for you. Here's a tip: You might want to "layer" the effect, that is, process several copies of the track using a different flanger ...

Re: Feature Request: Hot Keys for switching Audio Input/Recording

What kind of recording interface are you using, if any? Are you just plugging things into your computer jacks? A hot key is really for doing something on the fly -- i.e. quick edits. I can't think of a reason why I'd change recording devices on the fly. That's pretty much a set-and-forget thing with...

Release time is a common-enough concept. Why don't you just look it up? You're the one using the gate.

Re: German language with large toolbar icons

Do you absolutely need every single icon on the default toolbar? I deactivate the icons I never use (more than half). That leaves plenty of room on the toolbar for the icons I use frequently.

Re: Any LibriVox artists or 'listeners' here?

Yeah, Librivox comes up in discussions here all of the time. You can hardly get people to shut up about it. Seriously, the only way to get real information is to slog through what's available and make what inferences you can. Start Googling again. Re: Flac 24 bit to Stereo/Mono wave file

OK, I asked for details, and you haven't given me any. So I still can't tell what you're doing that might lead to conversion issues. For all I know, you could just be pushing buttons at random and praying for the right results. I convert files from 24-bit to 16-bit in GW all of the time, and I never...

Re: Flac 24 bit to Stereo/Mono wave file

Have you had this problem before, with earlier versions of GoldWave, or is the first time you've tried the conversion? I don't really get why anyone would convert a file from a compressed format to an uncompressed one. It seems to me that's inviting trouble all by itself. At any rate, it's hard to t...
