Re: Use Goldwave for Dynamic Range Compression (DRC)
Yes, since this post some time back I have tried to use the Audacity "Leveller" option as well but it does not do the same job. Here is what I think the reason is: Levelator brings all the voice frequencies forward whether loud or soft. This works well for me in processing recorded live th...

Re: Does an SSD (Solid State Drive) improve performance of G
The general consensus is that CPU calculations mean more processing power is a key element. But I recall that multicores are not as significant as total clock speed. This advice came from the videohelp forum wherein I get advice for audio filtering combined with video files. The board I use for the ...

Does an SSD (Solid State Drive) improve performance of GW
If the system drive is an SSD and Goldwave is working on it's files using it, will coversion times (.wav to mp3 or Ogg)
greatly improve?
Please respond if you are using one of these effectively to reduce conversion time.

Goldwave for Levelling audio
Is there an effect in Goldwave to level audio in the manner of the tool for Audacity? Or the tool called The Levelator 2 from the Conversations network? I use Levellator regularly. I've been a Gw owner for many years. A while back I asked about some normalization routines to accomplish this leveling...

Re: .WAV to AAC in 5.x
Thanks for the reply.
I am slightly familiar with the Nero AAC encoder which gets installed to MeGUI for video/audio work.
How would the AAC encoder be installed for Goldwave? Does it have to be in a Goldwave folder?
I will also look at the program you suggest.

.WAV to AAC in 5.x
I am a novice user of Goldwave even after many years.
Now I've had occasion to require a .WAV file converted to AAC for further processing an audio track.
Can this be done in GW? I did not see that file extension offered.
Thanks to Chris for continuing development of this software.

Lame Encoder in Goldwave v. 5 x x64
Hello Chris and all,
Is there a special LAME encoder version for x64 running Windows 7 Ultimate?
If so provide direct link. I am continuing to set up my first x64 install and am still acquiring all the media programs I need and in the x64 format where possible.

Re: GW 6.01 beta install to XP, Question on start and stop
I had an incorrect setting in a different program which gave the AC3 rather than MP3 output I wanted.
When I checked this and took it to GW for conversion to WAV it went fine.
I was stumped by the fact that GW took the file but gave no error code. It fit the file into the available screen window.

GW 6.01 beta install to XP, Question on start and stop
The Beta version GW is refused by XP-- wait, does this have to be 64 bit? My question on usage is that all of a sudden I cannot clear start and stop points. I opened the box etc. and no matter what I do, the time stays at 3:58. No doubt I hit a key and do not know how it occurred. Example problem: I...

Re: Use Goldwave for Dynamic Range Compression (DRC)
I have done some reading about compression settings and tried to get the terminology like floor and knee and whatnot. Over a Reddit there is a good discussion which I saved which may be of use to others: The topic is introduced from this about VLC: http://www.instantfundas.com/2012/06/dialogues-too-...

Re: Use Goldwave for Dynamic Range Compression (DRC)
I have made some progress on this topic and it is a bit of a crosspost for convenience. But I have a question related to Goldwave specifically which follows While doing that I found a software in as Freeware (most easily obtained from CNET as it is no longer developed) named with the catchy title Th...

Re: Use Goldwave for Dynamic Range Compression (DRC)
Wow that chart is the nuts: Point to an intrument and get all the data on it.
Much appreciated. In the program, then, it should be possible to "thin" the amount of tom-tom range.
Sometimes with the search engine(s) it's knowing how to ask the question.

Re: Use Goldwave for Dynamic Range Compression (DRC)
After several listening experiments with this soundtrack from the live stage I am losing human voice quality from (in GW Effects > Expander-Compressor > Boost Quiet Parts [save that much] and Reduce Loud Parts. I may be able to simplify what changes should be made: 1.) Raise the Volume to another le...

Re: Effect Mode Expander vs Compressor
Ok, I am going to stick with selecting Mode - Compression manually since it is not the default and make a final test to make sure things are sounding right.
