wma problem
Are these "protected" WMA files? If DRM is enabled for the files, GW will not open them.

codec problems
I had the same thing happen to me when I installed the latest LAME ACM codec. Do you have that installed? Is the file an mp3-encoded wav, or an mp3? Go to Control Panel/Sounds & Multimedia/Devices & see what audio compression codecs are on your system. If you see the Fraunhofer (advanced) co...

midi files
No, Goldwave doesn't play midi files. You can record them into GW or get a program like Audio Compositor, which renders midi files to wav. Yes, they will be much larger files.
Regarding your pocket PC - if there's a midi device in there, you should be able to play midi files on it.

filtering out the wind
One method that works for me is to get a small sample of JUST the wind noise, copy it to the clipboard, then use Filter/Nosie Reduction with the clipboard noiseprint to filter out the unwanted sound. Let us know how it goes.

help with video sound
Depending on the audio codec, you can probably open the video file directly from GW. You can change the pitch without changing the length of the audio, so it should still sync up when you re-mux the files.

prob with LAME/crash
There are a few versions of the LAME encoder around, & I've noticed problems with the LAME ACM encoder version 0.8.0. Stick to the version that comes with GW, copy it to windows/system as well as the GW folder.

replacing audio in svcd
An editor like Multiquence, Vegas or Premiere can do the job. Load the original file into the editor, delete the audio, then replace it with the new audio.

Re: recording to cd volume
How do I adjust volume so that when I transfer to cd the recording will be at the normal cd volume (which is what?)? Does "maximize" do this automatically? Thank you, Uldra There is no "normal" cd volume...depends entirely on the mastering process. Compare the volume on a CD re-...

Re: Cannot playback on other machines
The MPEG and MP3 files I saved in GoldWave cannot be played back on other computers. The files play correctly on the PC where they were recorded, but not on any other machine. The sound is garbled or very scratchy sounding. I tried playing back through Windows Media Player on the source machine and...

recording from the web in stereo
OK - please walk me through the procedure you're using. Also, which flavor of SBLive do you have?It is truly a mono file.
All this thinking is hurting my brain!

recording from the net in stereo
When you say that you get a mono file using WhatUHear, is it just one channel of a stereo file?
If so, check your balance settings in the Volume Control applet.

click track
When I need a click track, I set it up in my MIDI sequencer, then record that into Goldwave. Careful editing makes it work.
