Re: newbie - problem with video format for youtube

You should check out the Videohelp forums. You'll find answers to any/all video -related questions there, even if you're a bot.

Re: Help: Audio quality degrates when importing .AVI file

Yes, GSpot will tell you what you need to know re: which audio & video codecs are used in your avi file. One thing I forgot to ask: in Goldwave, is there an indication of the audio format in the status bar (bottom of the GW editing window)? My hunch is that perhaps GW is playing the audio back u...

Re: Help: Audio quality degrates when importing .AVI file

What format is the avi audio? Are you using a codec pack or ffdshow or another 3rd-party decoder?

If your effect pedal has a stereo out (for headphones, perhaps), try connecting that to the line-in on the computer. Recording anything but a cheap-o mic via the mic jack is NEVER a good idea, pal. Line-in is the way to go with "consumer" sound cards or the dreaded mobo sound chips. If the...

Hi Owen! If your machine has another FLAC codec active (for instance, the Gabest DS splitter and/or the ffdshow package), it could cause the error you mentioned. If you use ffdshow, go into Audio Decoder Config & disable its handling of FLAC files. If not, try Softella's DirectShow Filter Manage...

Slightly off topic: Regarding Chris' mention of divx-compatible dvd players, it's worth noting that, in my experience anyway, they work amazingly well. I have 2 Toshiba divx-ready dvd players; one is an all-in-one tv/vcr/dvd device, the other is the ubiquitous SD-V295 dvd/vcr. Both handle divx/xvid ...

Second question first: the Real splitter is a DirectShow "filter" that enables Windows apps to play/edit Real audio formats outside RealPlayer or Real Alt. Really! lol Re: compression - it was ok for its time, but Real's main strength was the ability to stream media, using "stub"...

For those of us who have old files in that format, the splitter alone is a godsend. Hey, I used Real back when WMP was inferior, & my company bought Real Producer for me to transcode videos for the Internet....Now I can import & improve the audio on a lot of old vids of my band, wedding outt...

You may have recorded the WAVs at different settings in GW than in the other program. WAV format is a container, & WAV files can have many different attributes & use many different codecs. My hunch is that you're recording at a higher resolution in GW...for instance, you may inadvertently be...

Sure! Here's how I'd do it: I'd load each file into GW, carefully trim the gaps at the start & end of each mp3, save each track as a 16-bit/44100 wav file, then use GW's File Merger tool to combine the resulting files (in the proper order) into one big wav...then I'd burn that to a cd. I'm sure ...
