I use AnalogX TagMaster for the task you're describing. Free, well-written, & very useful. Plus I know the guy since my pre-internet CompuServe/BBS days. :D

I've been getting the free upgrades for about ten years now...frankly, I feel guilty. It'll pass, though.

A friend actually accused me of proselytizing for The Church of Goldwave....I said, "So what's your point?"

Open letter to Chris re: the persistent cursor

The following is just my personal opinion, & your mileage may vary. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but the persistent cursor in 5.22 is REALLY starting to bug me. I use GW every day, many times a day, & that omnipresent "barber pole" (as someone on forums called it) taunts me wit...

Sounds like a driver (or lack of same) problem. More info would be helpful in trying to be...uh...helpful.

Sound card? Mobo chip? Winders drivers, mfg drivers, no drivers?

I'd like the cursor to disappear when play is stopped.
Hear, hear!
Perhaps a future release could have an option to turn it off.
Hear HEAR hear!

it will be 10 years ago that i first found and registered goldwave Isn't that something? Major kudos to Chris for all the free updates over the years....you don't find that kind of value anywhere anymore. Maybe Chris could create a board here for off-GW audio topics? It's a pleasure to talk audio w...

you only want 16-bit Oh, no, let's not get into "what I want". I'd want 24-bit everything, tomorrow, for free. :D you talk about the "next big thing" in audio I was referring to the next dominant "physical medium" on which stored music would be bought & sold...

prime example of horrible mastering and a case where vinyl is the winner You bet. My favorite example is Iggy & the Stooges' "Raw Power", which was deliberately recorded, mixed & mastered for vinyl (by Iggy & Bowie) to sound, well, very raw. The remastered version, done...

I think DirectX is still a viable platform for plugins & virtual instruments; it's become marginalized only because it's Windows-dependent. Unfortunately, Macs still rule the roost in the studio, for better or worse... :P Rhetorical question, a little OT: Mac devotees try to paint Bill Gates as ...

these systems/methods are half-gimmick half serious. Pretty much as I'd suspected. Friends of mine will argue for hours over the advantages/futility of (home) recording & mixing at, say, 24/96, when the final output ends up as 16-bit anyway. Until the next "real" advance in sound repr...

I have a Brian Eno boxed set that was supposedly mastered in a similar fashion, but years ago....Sony called their process Super Bit Mapping, & they claimed it enabled 20-bit resolution on "regular" CD players. I thought that was BS, frankly. Have you noticed better sound quality with ...

If it's a well-edited, seamless loop, just copy it to the clipboard, Paste to New, then paste it twice more into your new file. There you are....60 seconds. Make sure to save your original file, just in case. :!:

Thanks. I use GW so often, for so many different projects, that looking at that iridescent cursor all day might bring on an acid flashback.

Many consumer-level sound cards (like Creative's SB line) come with features & software applets that allow the user to add real-time effects, like echo, chorus, reverb etc. I don't know what you have there, but my old SBLive's AudioHQ applet lets me do exactly what you've described. Hope this he...
