GoldWave does not include a cycles per second counter. The spectrum visual shows frequency data, but it probably won't be useful for low frequency data (such as counting rounds per minute).

The information on freedb is for CDs only and works by looking up the CD's ID. I do not know of any open databases for vinyl records and there is no reliable way to get an ID. Check to make sure you have the cassette player connected to the conputer's Line in and not the Microphone in. Also try reducing the output volume on the cassette player (if possible). To reduce the input volume in GoldWave, press the F11 key and choose the Volume tab.

Re-encoding the compressed video may can some quality loss, but it should not be a problem for VCD quality video. Using the MJPEG format or installing and using the DivX format should exceed VCD quality until you make the final conversion.
