GoldWave edits MP3 files. You'll need to install the LAME MP3 encoder to save the file in MP3 format later.
Files of 100MB or smaller should not be a problem, but larger files may hit file system limits if you are not using Windows 2000/XP with NTFS.

Re: Goldwave M-Audio playback problem
That is most likely a problem with the M-Audio driver, but it could be a DirectX related problem. Some combinations of drivers and DirectX always skip a small piece of the audio at the very beginning of playback. Make sure you have the latest driver and the latest version of DirectX installed. Re: increasing sound in cdg
There is no way to change the volume of the audio on the CD itself. You can copy the audio from the CD to a file with the CD Reader tool in GoldWave, then increase the volume of the file with the Effect | Volume | Change command. You'd need separate CD-R software (with CD+G support to read and write...

Re: Recording from cassette tape
After recording the tape into a single file, use the Cue Points tool or the Edit | Cue Point menu in GoldWave to set a cue point at the beginning of each song. If there are silences between songs, use the Auto Cue button (on the Cue Points tool windows) to quickly find and mark them. Once all the cu...

Re: Weird problem: Recording too slow
You'll need to contact Terratec support. The ticks and slow recording speed are caused by problems in their DirectSound capture driver.

Re: Super-basic newbie questions
You can use the bracket keys, [ and ], to set the start and finish markers during playback. To fine tune their placement, zoom in (use View | 1 Second) and click-and-drag a marker to change its position. Use View | Start and View | Finish to locate each marker when zoomed in.

Re: possible problem with 5.08 and Win2000
The tfswctrl.exe (DLA) program seems to cause problems, but it is not related to GoldWave.
Some sound and video drivers (particulary NVIDIA drivers) need to be updated to work properly with GoldWave. Make sure you have the lastest drivers installed.

Re: Macro to automatically put a marker at each frequency pe
There is currently no way to automatically mark frequency peaks in GoldWave. That would have to be added as a new feature, provided there is enough interest.

Re: deflashing error
Use the Edit | Deflash command. More recent versions of GoldWave do not require deflashing, so you many want to download a more recent version.

It is a lot of work, but karaoke text can be done in Multiquence. Click here for an example. Use the large video window to see the text clearly.

Re: saving files
Updating your sound and video drivers should help.
Also try the latest version of GoldWave if you are using an older one. If you are working with MP3 files, make sure you have the LAME MP3 encoder installed.

Re: How do i make my mic work on GoldWave?
To select the microphone input in GoldWave, press the F11 key and choose the Volume tab. You'll see a list of sources. Check the Select box for the Microphone item.
