Try using the Effect | Filter | Low/Highpass command with a cutoff of 3800Hz before converting to 8000Hz.

Unfortunately there is no solution to that problem.

Re: goldwave 5 questions/suggestions
Mouse wheel zooming is already implemented, but it is broken in the the development tools I use. You'll find that it works sometimes, depending on where the mouse is in the Sound window. You can use the Home key to center zooming on the start marker as long as the start marker can be centered in the...

Re: Batch Processing
On the Information tab of the Batch Processing window, make sure the "Retain information..." option is selected. Also try opening an MP3 file in GoldWave to see if the information appears under the File | Information command. If not, the files may have information stored in an ID3v1 tag. G...

Re: Question on normalizing music
The File | Batch Processing command (in v5) can normalize a group of files. You'd add the Maximize effect on the Process tab. The Edit | Mix command has position and volume controls. You can preview, change the settings, and preview again until things are right without having to undo then mix again....

Re: Goldwave 5 DESTROYS original audio files!
I was not aware of that problem, but I'll have it fixed in the next update. The source code for the FLAC plug-in is included in the Plug-in SDK if anyone wants to take a look at it.

Re: Creative ADPCM codec
Without knowing more about the files, it is difficult to know what the problem is. Creative ADPCM files can be 2, 2.6, or 4 bit packed. The RIFF format chunk may have to be altered to correctly handle the different bit packing.

Re: Speeding up the overview graph?
There is no way to speed it up in GoldWave (other than disabling it). You could try defragmenting your hard drive. Installing more RAM usually makes a big difference.

Re: Keep playing even if I move start marker to behind play
GoldWave v5 jumps to the new start marker's position. If you want playback to continue, then you can wait until playback has moved past the place where you want to move the start marker. Playback only jumps forward, not backward.

Re: Start playing at end of selection and keep playing?
GoldWave v5 works in a similar way to v4.26. You can use the rewind button to start playing backward from the end of the file, then use the play button to play up to the finish marker. You'd need to rewind for a few seconds (longer than v4.26) for playback to continue up to the moved finish marker's...

There is a section about that in the GoldWave manual (Appendix A.2.b).

Re: Goldwave 5 DESTROYS original audio files!
Have you installed the latest version of GoldWave? A small rounding error was fixed some time ago for 16 bit files. The problem is certainly undesirable, but to say it destroys the original file is a harsh exaggeration. The difference is inaudible and the original file is not altered in any way unle...

Re: The 6 Control Volume inputs
Line-in is usually best for a preamp. The "What U Hear" input can be used to record Internet audio. It lets you record what you would hear on the speaker/headphone output. TAD-in is for a Telephone Answering Device to record telephone conversations.

Re: extracting wav from avi
GoldWave can read audio in video files, such as AVI, MOV (old ones), WMV, and possibly MPEG video, provided Windows Media Player can play them.

Re: I too have the problem
Does pausing and resuming recording manually several times work normally as well (try holding down the Ctrl+F7 for a few seconds after starting recording)?
